Braves, Plague, Burst Out of the Gate

Week 1: The Hummels Wharf Braves and the Providence Plague spent the inaugural week of the PWFBL season getting an early leg up in their divisional races. The Braves easily coasted to a win over the Seattle Skunks by posting the most points of the week at 310.5. Providence broke out the big bats and blew out Rocko by almost 70 points to go 1-0 on the year. Six Plaguers belted two or more home runs in Week 1, including Reggie Sanders and Mike Lowell with three apiece.

The Game of the Week however, belonged to Wisconsin vs. Michigan. Shea Hillenbrand and Tim Wakefield came up big on Sunday to lead Sue Conn's Wannabes past the Twinkies in the interstate contest. John Smoltz also added a save to put Wisconsin exactly two points ahead of Michigan at the end of the week.

The Braves will look to make it two wins in a row as they take on the Twinkies in Week 2, with Wisconsin and Providence battling to hand the other their first loss of the year. Rocko and Seattle go head-to-head as they look for their first win.
