[04.18.03] Updated [04.22.03] Written by: Bob Pinter Skunks Waive Tejada Breaking News: League officials have learned that all-star shortstop Miguel Tejada has been cut loose by the Seattle Skunks. Tejada, who has been classified "undroppable" by ESPN, has showed some early signs of struggle in the early goings of the PWFBL season. Tejada was waived just before 1am Eastern Time in a swap that brought starting pitcher Tony Armas, Jr. to the Skunks. News of Tejada's waiver is expected to generate a feeding frenzy throughout the league. At least one team has already indicated interest in the shortstop's services. Michigan has the #1 Waiver Priority in the PWFBL as of Friday afternoon, so it's likely Tejada would end up becoming a Twinkie if owner Puck bites on the deal. Tejada has been the subject of many a trade in other fantasy leagues. He's already been dealt with Kenny Lofton and Corey Koskie for Alex Rodriguez in one league, and straight-up for Roy Oswalt in another. Fantasy owners have drafted Tejada an average of 12th overall. Skunks owner Jabin took him at 15th. Jabin was not immediately available for comment after the move was made, but later issued the following statement: "I got rid of Tejada because I don't feel that he fits into my team. I don't feel that he was performing how he is expected to," Jabin told reporters. "Granted, I don't have the greatest team or anything, but I can survive fine without Tejada." |
