| Hello, My name is Jo Beck and I am the Speech-Language Pathologist at Lake Ridge Elementary School! I am thrilled to be here and working with such wonderful students, parents, and staff. This is my first year in PWCS but I am bringing a basket full of experiences with me. I graduated from the University of Michigan with an undergraduate degree in Psychology and continued on to the University of Virginia where I received a master's degree in Communication Disorders. I have had experiences as a Speech-Language Pathologist in both private and public schools,a private speech clinic, an acute medical care center, and in a cognitive rehabilitation centers for wounded soldiers from Iraq. I love the diverse work environments this field provides, but find myself happiest working with elementary age students in the public schools. I was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia and graduated from T.C. Williams High School. (Go Titans!) In my free time I like to relax at the dog park with my 3 year old pug named Malcolm, read, and spend time with my friends and family. We're off to a great start this year with Speech and Language services. I hope that this website will be a useful resource for parents and teachers to help facilitate speech and language practice outside of the therapy room. For most speech and language disorders, practice at home is invaluable. In addition to offering some of my own suggestions or activities, I will provide links to many websites that you can browse and use at your leisure. If you have any questions regarding the speech program, feel free to call me at 703-494-9153 or click the link below to send me an email. I look forward to meeting you all. Have a wonderful year!
