Dear Parents,
The members of the Pleasant Valley Youth Association Board of Directors, as well as the coaches for the basketball program, are all volunteers. We volunteer our time to your children and ours, to teach them basketball, sportsmanship, teamwork, competition and the importance of exercise. We take our coaching responsibilities very serious.
As parents, it is your responsibility to make sure your children are attending scheduled practices, arriving to games on time and to be in contact with the coach if you are unable to fulfill those responsibilities.
Plays are learned at practices. Skills are taught and practiced over and over again. If a child continually misses practices where skills are taught, that child holds back an entire team when it comes to game time and that child does not know what is going on. It also places unnecessary pressure on that child to perform a task that he/she is unable to perform. Please take your responsibility to bring your children to practices and games as serious as coaches take their responsibilities to teach.
As players, it is the childrens' responsibility to try their best and to never give up. To use an old sports' saying, "Quitters never win and winners never quit."
Please use the proper chain of command when needing to address any situation: player, coach, representative, board of directors, president. Complaints sent directly to the president, or any Board member or than the representative, will not be heard.
The Pleasant Valley School District graciously allows our organization to use the gym facilities. With this comes rules and responsibilities. Please adhere to the following policies (both PVSD and PVYA):

No smoking on school property (this includes inside your vehicle).
No PVYA members are allowed to enter a gym that is occupied by a Pleasant Valley school team.
Practices may be lost unexpectedly due to school activities. DO NOT drop off a child without first making sure the scheduled practice is taking place.
Do not "drop off" siblings or friends of players with the player at a practice or a game if you will not be there.
There is no dribling, passing, etc. of basketballs in the hallways.
Roaming the hallways is not allowed by anyone at any time.
Do not leave water bottles or any other garbage in a gym after a practice or a game.
Pulling a fire alarm or dialing 9-1-1 is a finable offense.
Siblings or parents are not allowed to "shoot around" while a scheduled team is on the court.
Players are to be picked up immediately at the conclusion of a scheduled practice or game.

Please remember the "Code of Conduct" form you signed at registration:
All fans are expected to show sports-like conduct at all practices and games- both home and away. Physically or verbally confronting a player, fan, coach or official can result in an ejection from the game and a $100 fine.

We realize there are many rules. However, with your cooperation, the PVYA can give all of our children a positive, learning experience. We look forward to a wonderful season.
