SYLLABUS

Instructor: Mr. Collins
E-mail: [email protected]
Website: http://www.geocities.com/pvtech02/

Course Purpose/Objectives:
Students will learn some of the most important topics of using the Internet, including getting connected, basic e-mail and intergrated browser e-mail software, and advanced Internet topics.

Prerequisite:
It is expected that the student will have a basic knowledge of the use of a microcomputer. A basic understanding of Windows navigation and file management skills will be necessary. Completion of Word XP is a pre-requisite to enrolling in this course.

Teaching Methods:

Grading:

Letter grades will be determined using a standard percentage point evaluation as outlined below. Grades MAY be curved after the total semester points have been tabulated. However, do not count on a curve to obtain your desired grade.

A=93%-100%
B=85%-93%
C=75%-85%
D=65%-75%
F =Below 65%

Your grade for each quarter will be computed using points. The amount of points you have earned will be divided by the amount of points you could have earned to calculate your final average.

Course Policies:
Missed Classes: The student is responsible for obtaining material, which may have been distributed on class days when he/she was absent. This can be done through contacting a classmate who was present or by contacting the instructor by email. Making up an exam and/or class work is your responsibility. Please see Mr. Collins to arrange make up work or exams.

Assignments: All assignments are due at the beginning of class on the date due. Late submission of assignments will be assessed a penalty of 25% per day. No exceptions are made.

Academic Dishonesty: Plagiarism and cheating are serious offenses and may be punished by failure on exam, paper or project; or failure in course at the discretion of the instructor.

Need for Assistance: If you have any condition, such as a physical or learning disability, which will make it difficult for you to carry out the work as I have outlined it, or which will require academic accommodations, please notify me as soon as possible.

Posting of Grades: Grades will be posted periodically.

Computer Use: Your computer is to be used only to complete assignments for this class. If I see you using your computer for anything else, you will be referred immediately to the office for disciplinary action.
