| Smoke System Photo Page |
| These close-up photos are intended to compliment the instructions listed on the Description Page. However, the photos alone do a pretty good job of showing what is needed for you to make a smoke system for your plane. Nothing is scientific, just a lot of SWAG engineering. I built this system for less than $20, you can too. |
| A car windshield washer reservoir with a built-in pump contains and delivers the smoke oil. I made the sheet metal bracket to mount the tank on the fuselage side of the plane's firewall. It holds about 2 quarts of smoke oil. I use a ratio of 3:1 of Super Dri smoke oil to diesel fuel to keep costs down. You could also use straiaght diesel oil, or some folks have used baby oil? A hand operated siphon pump is used to transfer smoke oil from its gallon container to this tank. |
| The smoke oil delivery tube attatches to the nozzle where the tuned pipe joins the muffler. It is safety wired in place. A radiator hose clamp secures the nozzle to the tuned pipe. |
| This in-line fuel valve was purchased at a motorcycle shop. Any kind of fuel-line valve will work; it provides both a shut-off and variable flow condition. I always use mine full on. I like lots of smoke!! Costs $7.00 |

| Close-up of the nozzle with a brazed on washer, hole in both the tuned pipe and hose clamp band. Try an "off the shelf" brass fitting such as that shown if brazing isn't an option. You just need something that won't melt at about 500 degrees. |
