| Air-Bike hits 102 MPH!! |
| You are looking at absolute proof that my Air-Bike can really scoot when it wants to! Cockpit photo was taken while flying. The panel mounted portable GPS shows a ground speed of 102 MPH during straight and level flight Saturday July 12th, 2003. I was returning from breakfast at Beaumont Hotel in Beaumont, Kansas. When climbing to cruising altitude of 3500' MSL I discovered a "slight" tailwind was helping me along. Pushing the throttle to 90%, the RPM read 6000 and my indicated airspeed displayed 60 MPH. I still had another 700 RPM to go but figured this was fast enough! The placards below the compass are semi-serious, they read: 1) 5* increments (compass marks) 2) Intentional Spins Prohibited (not rated for 'em) 3) No Lomchavacks Either! (as if my plane could do one anyway?) Although this is ground speed and not a true airspeed, it was a thrill anyway! |

| This is where I was on that record setting day, eating breakfast at the Beaumont Hotel and Restaurant in Beaumont, Ks. That is the only "Jack" water tower still in existence on the right.
