My Mission I have a wealth of personal experience to help people overcome “obstacles” in the advancement of their skiing abilities, and I take great pleasure in seeing my client's skiing improve while they have more fun on the slopes.

Private Lessons will allow for more personal attention to an individual's specific needs.  My private lessons can accommodate a group but are most effective with 1-3 persons.

If you are a “Gate Junkie” or looking to improve your time in the “Peak to Valley” or “Kokanee Series” races, I can help.

Ski Professional Experience

CSIA Level 4 Ski Professional & CSCF Level 4 Ski Coach

Paul is a fully certified Level 4 coach with the Canadian Ski Coaches Federation and a Level 4 instructor with the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance. Of the over 1200 instructors at Whistler-Blackcomb, he is the only professional with this dual qualification.

And now a few words from the Coach:

I have best been described as a middle-aged man trapped in an 18 yr. old body!  I also have been described as the Coach with a Different Approach!

My background includes coaching athletes from entry level to World  Cup, including the Men’s Canadian Ski Team for 8 years as the development coach. I then moved on to the Canadian Women’s Ski team as the Head Coach / Program Director.  My athletes included Karen Lee Gartner, 1992 Olympic Games Gold Medallist, Albertville France; Kate Pace Lindsey, 1993 Downhill World Champion; Rob Boyd, Brian Stemmle, and Cary Mullen - all World Cup Medallists.

Having coached athletes from entry level to World Cup, World Championship and Olympic Games Gold Medal wins has given me an incomparable wealth of personal experience to draw on to help others overcome obstacles in the advancement of their own skiing abilities, from beginners, to those who wish to be more confident on the "dreaded" Double Black Diamond runs.

"Private" lessons will allow for more personal attention to an individuals specific needs, as opposed to a more generic approach, that may be encountered in a group lesson.

PS:  You can also contact me during the summer for guided fishing tours!

FISHING GUIDE: Since an early age, I have been "hooked on fishing". I consider British Columbia to have some of the best fishing opportunities for all tastes. Although there are still places I have not yet fished in B.C. They are on an ambitious list of places to go. From "Blue Ribbon" trout/steelhead/salmon streams, to isolated, fly-in trout lakes throughout the province I have personal knowledge of a vast selection of waters.

Although primarily a Fly fishing enthusiast, I do not hesitate to use spinning or casting gear, depending on the prey and location, to get the best results - fish!

HUNTING GUIDE: Starting in early August I am able to guide hunters, primarily fly-in/back pack for: Stone Sheep, Canadian Moose, Black Bear, Grizzly Bear, Mountain Goats and Mountain Caribou.

Hunts are booked through Misty Mountain Adventures, visit their web at:
www.mistymountain.bc.ca or contact Derek at tel: 867-633-3779
