Banana Peels Activated Carbon Abstract!

Banana is the general product that mostly known in society. The mostly used of banana is only their fruit, meanwhile the other part of banana only as a waste product, such as banana peel that have not used optimally yet. So, in this research we developed a process to making activated carbon from banana peel waste that can be used as adsorbent to reduce Amonia solution concentration in pollute water.
The method of this research consist of some steps which are preparation process and activation process with conducted dehydration by using Acetate acid (CH3COOH) solution and Ammonia solution (NH3), the efficiency activated carbon will be used in depurating test of water waste as to know the level of adsorption with unwanted substances in the water, such as Ammonia Solution (NH3) in the polluted water.
From the experiment, we got that the best activated carbon of banana peel waste from type of Tanduk by added the 0.1 M NaOH will be able to absorb the Ammonia (NH3) solution in the pollute water in the optimum absorption 1,79 M by using carbon after processed in carbonation in temperature 300 0C and concentration of solution 0.1 M.
