Hero

            There are many different types of heroes in the world, super heroes, gods, everyday people, etc. Different people have different views of heroes. In ancient Greece the gods were the heroes. They were the highest thing, everyone looked up to them. Some gods were powerful and scary and people were scared of them, but other gods were great and used their powers in helpful ways towards the people. Gods in ancient Greece were not the only people considered heroes. Just like today in the year 2003, people who helped people and saved lives are considered heroes.

            In the September 11^th disaster, many people were killed, and few survived. People in the World Trade Centers, People walking the streets, people in other buildings, firefighters, and other people in the planes that were hijacked all died in that event. The firefighters who rushed to the accident, were doing all they could to get the people out of the building safely, helping the injured and directing people to a safe place. These firefighters of the FDNY risked their lives in order to save the lives of the civilians in New York. Even though some of these brave men and women didn’t make it out of this event alive, they are all considered the brave heroes of today.

            Heroes can be many things like gods or people who risk his or her own life to save the lives of others. But anyway you look at it, Heroes are a good thing. When there are heroes people have something to look up to. They can say that man or woman is a great person I want to be just like them, so people want to help out, and make the world a better place.
