Hero Journey: By the Waters of Babylon

  1. The ordinary world

- The villa they live in which is west from the forbidden city.

  1. Call to adventure

- He touches the metal and realizes he is a priest and he wont be harmed in the forbidden city.

  1. Refusal of the call

- He tells the young “priest” that it is a forbidden place that he must never go.

  1. Supernatural aid

- He looks into the fire and knows he needs to cross the river to the city

  1. Crossing the threshold

- He travels to the land of the gods and is troubled by the river which is a huge obstacle in his way of getting to the city.

  1. In the Belly of the Whale

- He crosses the river into the city. And he hears the sound of the “Gods”

  1. The Road of Trials

- The young priest uses a raft to cross the river which is torn apart by the Gods.

  1. The meeting with the goddess

- He sees someone in the window whom he thinks is a god only it is a preserved body.

  1. Woman as the Temptress

- The wild dogs in the city

  1. Atonement with the Father

- The metal he touches makes him think he is invulnerable to it so he realizes he is a priest.

  1. Apotheosis

- He finds food and an alcoholic drink which makes him feel dizzy.

  1. The Ultimate boon

- He sees that the “Gods” are really people

  1. Refusal of the Return

- He is with the Gods, he is a priest. He is invulnerable to the “death” that looms in this place.

  1. Magic in flight

- He is chases by the dogs

  1. Rescue from without

- The rescue from without was left out of this story

  1. Crossing the return Threshold

- His journey back to his old town to confess to his father that he went to the place of the gods.

  1. Master of Two Worlds

- His father tells him that everything is ok and the law is only a shape and he couldn’t travel to the place during is time.

  1. Freedom to Live
    1. They decide they need to rebuild the city of newyork
