| Why I am Happy Today |
| On Monday 15th September, me and three of my friends went to see the legendary Rocky Horror Show! If you've never heard of this amazing experience, do you walk around with your eyes closed or something?! This musical is loosely based on 'Frankenstein', but it is a lot, lot ruder, being mostly about sex. No, all about sex to be honest. And if that wasn't amusing enough, everyone goes dressed up as transvestites and french maids and doctors. It was a fantastic night out. Being mostly unqualified drivers, and in any case intending to imbibe large amounts of intoxicating liquid, we had to get the train to Birmingham, encountering one of my ex-workmates on the way. Then we had to walk through the city centre, avoiding bitchy girls (*adopts shaz-esque voice* "Does your skirt wanna be any shorta?!") and dirty old men ("'scuse me, 'ave you got a license for that skirt?"), and finally ended up in the pub round the back of the Alexandra Theatre. There we met Curly Watts, late of 'Coronation Street' who was playing the Narrator in the show, a boy in a thong and suspenders and his not-so-secret admirer (lets just say, it wasn't a Mars Bar in his pocket), and a lot of general people in tarty costumes and copious amounts of make-up. The show itself: what can I say? Ever heard of the Time Warp? Imagine a whole theatre of people dressed up, singing at the tops of their lungs and doing "just a jump to the left..." Hell, there's no way to describe it. You'll just have to experience it for yourself, if you like singing, dancing, silliness, comedy and a whole heap o' rudeness (all my favourite things!), I just know you'll love it. In the meantime, here's some pictures of me and my friends dressed up for you to laugh at. |
