date : 00/08/02
venue :
interviewer : david

1. Who did you vote for to win Big Brother?
Graeme : Well we didn't really follow it, we watched bits of it. I suppose our favourite was Kate.

2. What are your favourite tracks from Lunatic Ride?
Iain: my favourite is probably here I am, or perfectly still.
Graeme: I like here I am, but we like all our songs.

3. Why did you change the album name from 'Perfectly still' to 'Lunatic ride'?
Jim: The song lunatic ride really describes what has been going on in out lives over the last year.
Graeme: lunatic ride is a very powerful song and we all love it.
Iain: well I just thought the name sounded better.

4. Why isn't lunatic ride on the album then?
Jim: we have quite a lot of songs now, and we can't put them all on the album, so we decided to put the singles and the new tracks on the album.

5. Is the vampire song going to be on lunatic ride, because it isn't on my playlist.
Graeme: well you never know, it might be...
Jim: hmm, I think we will leave you in the dark on this one (Graeme nods and mouths the words 'its on it')

6. What messages and opinions do Halo try to convey through their songs?
Graeme: hmmm, that's a tough one, well a lot of our songs are about sex
Iain: and burning things (with a grin on his face)
Jim: so I guess what we are trying to say is... [edited to protect the faint hearted!]

7. Have they seen their fan sites (Cult Of Halo in particular) and what do they think of their fans?
Graeme: oh yeah I've seen cult of Halo, its very good, and quite funny as well.
Jim: we love our fans, they are the reason we play and do what we do. Lets face it, every band needs fans.

8. Halo has a very powerful sound live, so did it ever cross your mind to release some live tracks?
Graeme: no not really, but that's a good idea. You never know, we might release some in the future.

9. What songs have you done for the b-side of neverending?
Graeme: well on the first disk we have put some acoustic stuff that we recorded in our flat over the weekend, we also did an acoustic version of the vampire song.
Iain: we didn't really know what to do for the b-side at first, we didn't want to use anything off the album, so we wrote this song called flatlined at 3:23am.

10. Who are your biggest inspirations?
Jim: urm…. Animal from the Muppets! (Laughs) he inspired me to buy my first drum kit.
Iain: the cooper temples inspire us a lot.

11. A while ago Graeme said something about really liking jam, since that people have been saying you're a jam lover, is it true?
Graeme: jam? I do like it, but I don't eat it all the time. I guess it just got blown out of proportion. I suppose I do like it, but I'm not obsessed or anything.

12. Halo have toured with a lot of bands, out of them all who did you get along with best, and is there anyone that you didn't like?
Graeme: we pretty much liked everyone. The cooper temples are really cool, they are close friends of ours so it was fun touring with them.
Iain: Serafin were cool as well, we had a lot of laughs with them.
Graeme: there was one band we played with when we were unsigned, 'Quite the thing about town' and they were total c**ts!
Jim: oh yeah, the London gig, they were c**ts!
Graeme: quote us on that one, because we really don't like them, tell everyone that Halo think that Quite the thing about town are total c**ts!

13. Are Halo planning on releasing a tab book?
Jim: a lot of people have asked us that
Me: well on cultofHalo.com there is a tab section but the only tab is lunatic ride, and it's not complete so a tab book would help.
Graeme: I don't really understand tab, I just play what we write.
Jim: I'll probably write a tab book, I understand tab, so I'll probably do it when we have a bit of spare time, coz at the moment we have too much to do with the upcoming album and the tour.

15. Are Halo going to tour again this year.
Iain: we will probably tour again towards the end of the year.
Graeme: we will definitely have to play a few shows after the album is released so look out for us in November/December.

16. How did Jim join the band?
Graeme: me and Iain used to be in a band together, but we got as far as we were going to get, so we split up. Jim was in another band at the time, but they split up. Me and Iain decided to start another band so we held auditions and Jim was the best drummer.

Me: How long did it take Steve to learn the bass?
Graeme: well he already played guitar, and the keyboard
Iain: he's the only one of us with musical training, he went to a music collage
Graeme: he picked up the bass really quickly, at first it was taking a bit for him to play the songs fluently, but now he's a great bass player.
