The sale was organised by Kathy Etchingham, Jimi's girlfriend, and included Noel Redding's personal collection of gold discs, rare posters, handbills flyers and backstage passes.
Highlights from the collection of the late Tony Brown, the well-known Hendrix biographer and researcher, included Jimi's Stratocaster flight case, Innovex guitar synsethiser, autographs, posters and unpublished photographs.
Property consigned by Kathy Etchingham included personal effects, furniture and furnishings from Jimi & Kathy's Brook St. flat, and some of Jimi's jewellery. Other highlights included Jimi's vintage Epiphone guitar, which went for �55,000, his Marshall amp & speaker, which went for �29,000, used for songwriting and at home between 1967-70, his Stars and Stripes stage shirt worn in 1970, the stage from London's legendary Marquee Club, a recording agreement signed by Jimi Hendrix, circa 1966, unpublished photographs by Linda McCartney, equipment, Album artwork, Rare posters, Archive photographs, Autographs and written material. |
