Uninvited CH 6

“So when does your friend from school come?” Nik asked Gia on the way to Kelly’s. “Next month, he still needs to transfer.” Gia said. “Ah I see.” Nik said. “What was his name again?” He asked. “Zander.” Gia stated. “Right.” Nik said. He had a feeling that she and Zander were more than just friends. He wouldn’t be surprised that a beautiful girl like her would have a boyfriend. He didn’t worry much about it though; a month was a long time to win her over. Nik glanced over at Gia and saw how miserable she looked; then again maybe it won’t be as easy as he thought. “So how long have you known him?” Nik asked. “Geez what’s with the 20 questions?” “I really don’t want to talk about that OK?” Gia yelled in frustration. Nik had second thought about taking her to Kelly’s; he might not want his friends to meet her. “I’m sorry, I was just trying to be nice.” Nik said. Gia started to feel bad. She sighed and turned to face him, god he looked good. “Look I’m sorry but I’m just not comfortable talking about my life with you yet.” Gia said. Nik nodded his head. “I understand.” He said.

They pulled up to Kelly’s; Nik was little concerned for Gia. All of his friends knew about her. They were all waiting to meet this mystery woman. He didn’t think she would want to go if he tolled her this so he didn’t tell her. “Well let’s go!” Nik said getting out of the car.

Nik pulled the door open and held it for Gia to come in threw. Gia slowly entered the diner. A table full of people who looked about her age, all turned around when they opened the door. Looking her up and down with shocked looks on their faces. “Nice to meet you too.” Gia said sarcastically. Nik walked up behind her and started to put his hand on her shoulder but changed his mind, dropping it to the side. “Everyone this is.” Nik started but Gia cut him off. “Gia Campbell.” Gia said looking at everyone.

Gia felt uncomfortable standing there in front of everyone looking at her. She was about to say another sarcastic remark when a blond guy who had been gawking at her stood up and looked like he was finally brave enough to approach her. He got up and smiled at her and then looked down shyly. “I’m um, I’m lucky.” He stuttered. “Well, maybe some of it will rub off on me. Lord knows I need it right now. ” Gia said, shaking his hand. He laughed. “No really, that’s my name.” “Lucky Spencer, I’m Nik’s half brother. Gia didn’t know why, but she kind of liked the guy. He wasn’t really her type but she thought he was cute. She could tell he was nervous so she smiled at him to make him a little more comfortable. “Nice to meet you Lucky.” She said.

Nik watched the interaction between Gia and his brother and felt a twinge of jealousy. He wondered why Gia couldn’t smile at him like that. She never talked to him like she was with Lucky.

Gia was still smiling at Lucky when a short pale girl got up abruptly from the table. “Hi I’m Elizabeth!” She said in a sugar sweet voice. “You must be Gia?” She asked. “The one and only.” She said coolly. “Oh, you work here?” Gia said scrunching up her nose when she noticed her apron. “Yeah I do.” Liz said defensively. “And I’m Lucky’s girlfriend.” She said, linking her arm with his and glaring at Gia. Oh this girl does not know who she’s dealing with. “I’m sorry Lucky.” Gia said sympathetically to him. Everyone was in shock. No one was rude to Elizabeth. “So Lizzy do you think I can get some food?” Gia asked. “Unless you cooked it that is.” She said with an evil grin. Liz was shocked by this girl’s attitude but calmed herself down. “Sure, what can I get you?” She asked with a fake smile. “A grilled cheese sandwich and a sake please.” Gia said. Liz nodded and went behind the counter. “Hi I’m Emily and this is my best friend Courtney.” A pretty brunet girl said, extending her hand out for Gia to take. “Hi” Gia said shaking both girls hands. “This is my boyfriend Shane.” Em said, gesturing to a short guy with dark hair and blue eyes, he had the whole grunge thing going on. He seemed nice but very quiet. He just smiled and nodded his head at her, witch she did in return.

“So Gia you want to sit down over here?” Nik suggested gesturing to a table in the corner. “Why don’t we sit with your friends?” Gia asked. Nik nodded his head. “Sure, if you want to.” Nik said. Gia sat down next to Lucky. “So, you know of any cool places to party?” Gia asked Lucky. “Well, there’s my dads place.” “It’s a club called Luke’s.” He said. “Oh yeah I saw it on the drive up, it looks pretty cool.” Gia said. “Yeah you should go sometime.” Lucky said shaking his head. “Maybe I will.” She said smiling. “Hey Lucky can I talk to you in privet for a minute?” Nik asked. “Sure.’ He said standing up.

They walked out onto the patio to talk. “Man she is gorgeous! And she’s got spunk, I like her.” Lucky exclaimed when they stepped outside. “You are a lucky man my brother!” He said. “Yeah well I thought you would think that but she’s not as perfect as you’d think.” Nik said. “Why what’s going on?” Lucky asked. “Well she’s a how should I say this, b**** to me man!” Nik said. “Well she does have some attitude, but she’ll come around.” Lucky said. “Well I hope so because I’m starting to get frustrated here.” Nik said. “She’s definitely not your typical princess.” Lucky said. “That’s for sure.” Nik agreed. “Let’s get back in there before Gia kills Liz.” Nik suggested. The brothers laughed and went inside.
