Uninvited CH 29

Gia lay in the bed underneath Nikolas and lazily ran her fingers through his hair as silent tears rolled down her cheeks. She hadn’t slept all night. She finally found the man of her dreams, one who loved her unconditionally and now she had to let him go. She looked down at his head that was resting upon her chest. She kissed it lightly, god she loved this man. If Helena were to hurt him, just one of the hairs between her fingers she couldn’t bare it. She felt him stir on top of her and she quickly tried to hide her sadness by wiping her tears away.

Nikolas woke up in Gia’s arms, his face nestled in the comfort of her bosom. His eyes fluttered open and he could feel her fingers rake through his hair, causing shivers coursing through him with every stroke. He felt her stop and it gave him discomfort, he felt cold without her touch. He looked up at her to see her wiping tears from her eyes. Did she think she could hide them from him? He looked up at her with concern, lightly caressing her face. He watched her eyes flutter as she tried to pull away from his touch. He sat up abruptly.

“What wrong?” He asked. Gia shook her head and got out of the bed. “Nothing.” She said softly as she headed for the bathroom. Nik got up to fallow her. “Stop, I need to be alone.” Gia said putting her hands up to his chest. “Gia what’s wrong baby?” Nik asked softly as he tried to reach for her but she pulled away again. “I just need a few minutes, can you give me that? God!” Gia said angrily. Nik was confused but he nodded his head and headed downstairs. He was surprised to see his uncle sitting at the table with breakfast served for three. “Nikolas, I thought that it would be nice if we all ate together. I know that Gia went through quite an ordeal last night and I wanted her to have something to eat.” Stefan said as Nikolas walked up to him. Nikolas stood over Stefan and leaned down, kissing him on the head. “Thank you uncle.” Nik said and then made his way around the table and sat down. “Is everything OK?” Stefan asked. Nikolas shook his head slowly. “No, something’s wrong with Gia.” Nik said. “Nikolas what happened to her last night would be traumatic for anyone.” Stefan said. “I know but I don’t think she’s telling me everything. I just feel like something is off.” Nik said.

Gia let the hot water of the shower wash over her face; she felt the mix of fresh warm tears and hot water slide down her face. She cried until she couldn’t cry any more. Finally composing herself she finished her shower and got out. She put on a black knee length skirt and a blue long sleeve v-neck shirt. Slipping on a pair of black shoes and headed downstairs. She heard voices coming from the dining room and took a deep breath before pushing the door open and walking in. She noticed Stefan and went over and kissed him on the cheek, not looking at Nikolas. “Good morning princess Gia, I thought I would have the cook make us some breakfast this morning.” Stefan said smiling at her. “Thank you.” Gia said quietly. She sat in the seat next to Stefan rather then by Nikolas and kept her head down as she ate. The table was silent. “Gia you seem quiet, is everything all right?” Stefan asked. Gia looked up at him and nodded her head but said nothing. They continued to eat quietly and then Stefan stood up from his seat. “Excuse me but I need to make a phone call, I’ll be right back, please continue eating.” He said and then left the room. Gia continued to look at her plate in silence.

Nikolas sat in his chair, his uncle left, giving him full view of Gia’s face. He watched her eat for a while; she looked so uncomfortable sitting a chair away from him. He couldn’t take it any longer and scooted over to his uncle’s vacant chair. He leaned in and looked at her intently.

Gia felt him sit in the chair next to her, she felt his gaze upon her face and it caused her heart to speed up. He was going to make this so hard. She took a deep breath before returning his intense stare. “What?” She asked sharply. Nik shook his head. “Don’t ask me what. Why are you acting like this?” He asked. “Like what? This is me Nikolas, if you don’t like it then find yourself another princess to marry before you get stuck with me.” Gia said standing up to leave. “Wait a damn minute, what are you talking about marrying someone else? Gia what’s going on?” Nik said grabbing her hand. She pulled her hand out of his. “I don’t think we should get married Nikolas, we’re too different. Trust me, you don’t want to be with someone like me. You need a princess that will be perfect, polite and sophisticated. I’m not, I’m just a half-breed from Brooklyn, a common whore.” Gia said turning around again. Nik jumped up and turned her around to face him, he placed his hands on the sides of her face. “This isn’t you.” He said looking into her eyes. Gia looked down. “Don’t fight this Nikolas, I don’t want to marry you, I’m going back to Brooklyn to live with my aunt.” Gia said, still not looking him in the eye. “No, Gia I don’t know what’s wrong with you but this is not you. Tell me what’s going on, please.” He said tilting her chin up, forcing her to look at him. “I can’t.” She whispered. Nik leaned in and kissed her softly on the lips. Gia pulled away from him. “Tell me you don’t love me Gia, look into my eyes and tell me.” Nik said looking down at her. “I care about you Nikolas and I don’t want you go get hurt, please don’t ask me this.” Gia said looking down again. Nik grabbed her face and pulled her head up so that she could look directly into his eyes. “Tell me.” He demanded. “I don’t love you Nikolas Cassadine, now you will let me go right now!” Gia said angrily, emphasizing every word. Nik let her go and turned his back to her. Gia swiftly made her way to the door. “You’re lying!” Nik yelled as she walked out the door.

The second she was out the door, Gia burst into tears, she ran to the stairs with her head down. Gia looked up abruptly when she bumped into something, or someone. Stefan looked down at her with concern. “I heard everything.” Stefan said. Gia continued to let silent tears roll down her face as she looked at him. “It’s Helena isn’t it?” Stefan asked quietly. Gia started to breathe heavy as she tried to look away from him. “I’ll get you out of this, don’t worry.” Stefan whispered to her. Gia let out a small moan as she wrapped her arms around Stefan’s neck and held on tightly.
