Uninvited CH 18 Part A
Nik was vaguely aware that Gia had gone downstairs to eat dinner without him. He
felt awful about it but he was going crazy. The image of Gia, wet and dripping
in his kitchen made him mad with need for her. He just had to distance himself
from her. When he heard her door shut, he quietly crept out of his room.
After her shower, Gia padded downstairs in some shorts and a pink baby-t. She
hoped to find Nikolas. She was a little sad to find that he wasn’t in the
kitchen. Since all of the staff had time off while Stefan was away, Gia made her
own dinner. She sat at the table and ate her grilled cheese sandwich thinking
about her day. As she thought of Nikolas and the day they shared, she couldn’t
help looking towards the door of the kitchen where she stood just moments ago,
wrapped up in his arms. She smiled as she touched her lips lightly, remembering
the warm kiss they shared. After she finished her dinner she sadly gave up on
the hope that Nikolas was going to join her that night and made her way up to
her room.
Clad in only a pair of pajama bottoms, Nikolas made his way downstairs and
headed for the kitchen. He shook his head at the mess Gia made in the kitchen.
He decided to eat what he could tell she had made, grilled cheese. He decided
that if he stayed in the kitchen that he wouldn’t be able to stop the memories
of seeing her dripping wet from drifting into his head. He ate in silence in the
dining room. And try as me might; he couldn’t get Gia out of his head. She was
so different from other girls he knew. Sure she was sarcastic and at times rude,
but he had never met anyone quite like her. He remembered the first time he took
her to the stables, how he wanted so desperately to see her smile. Now that he
had, he was addicted. Shaking his head to clear out all thoughts of her, Nik got
up and put his dish away, and then headed upstairs to bed.
Gia sighed when she heard Nik’s door open and then close again. She knew that
he was in the kitchen cooking dinner. A pain hit her at the thought that he
wouldn’t want to eat with her. Did she do something wrong? Maybe she should
have just let him come take a shower with her? “No Gia that’s crazy!” Gia
cursed herself. She sat down on her bed and thought about it. Her feelings for
Zander were slowly fading away. But her feelings for Nikolas were so strong. She
had never felt like this before, not even with Zander. It scared her to think
that she was so sure she was in love one moment but so unsure the next. She
sighed and let her head hit her pillow. Realizing how tired she was, she pulled
her shirt over her head and dropped it to the floor. Stripping the rest of her
clothes off, she quickly slipped under her silk sheets.
Padding up the stairs barefoot, Nikolas headed for his bed. His mind drifted to
the room across from his, Gia’s. He tried to walk to his room but something
was pulling him towards hers. He walked up to her door and rested his forehead
on the cool wood. He felt so bad not eating with her, he had to apologize.
Knocking lightly once but not hearing anything, Nik’s hand went to the knob
and slowly turned it.
Gia's eyes shot open when she thought she heard a knock at her door, waiting and
listening she heard nothing so she closed her eyes again. A sodden chill hit her
body and she sat up to see where the draft was coming from. She felt the
presence of someone in her doorway so she slowly turned her head to see. Nikolas
was standing in her room, eyes glued to her.
Nik slowly pushed the door open and stepped inside. The light of the full moon
filled the room, casting deep shadows from the sheer drapes. His eyes drifted
from the beauty of her bedroom window to her bed. He stood, in shock as he
watched Gia’s shoulder slowly begin to come into view, lightly illuminated by
the moonlight. His breath caught when she suddenly sat up in her bed. He watched
as her silk sheets dropped down to her bed, giving him a full view of her
backside, all the way down to her buttocks. She slowly turned her head to her
smooth shoulder, craning her neck so that she could look over it. He couldn’t
move as their eyes met and locked.
