Uninvited CH 14


“Nikolas, I’m going to call the police station and let them know that she’s missing.” Stefan said. He left the kitchen and Nik sat down at the table. He wanted to rest a little while before going out and looking for Gia again.

Gia was crying with pure relief, as she got closer to the lights. She noticed that she was facing the back of the castle now and realized she knew where she was. She jumped out of her skin when lightning struck and soon was fallowed by a boom of thunder. She ran, as fast as she could to what she was sure by now was the kitchen door.

Nikolas stood up to head out the door when it all of the sudden opened. She came in to the kitchen, closing the door behind her. She looked up at him and stopped dead. She was soaked to the bone, her hair was dripping with rain and she was bleeding from a small gash on her cheek. His eyes roamed her body, her black dress clung to her wet body as she stood in the doorway, even when she was dripping wet she still took his breath away. His heart bounded with relief to see her standing in front of him.

When Gia finally reached the door to the kitchen, she opened it and was greeted by warmth. She looked up and froze in her spot. Nikolas was standing up in the middle of the kitchen. He looked like he was about to go out. To look for her maybe? She looked at him, she could tell he had been out in the rain. Had he been looking for her? God he looks sexy, Gia thought. His hair was wet at the ends and stuck to his skin and he was wearing a black leather trench coat. She swore that she saw relief in his eyes as he looked at her.

“Were you looking for me?” Gia asked. “Of course I was looking for you.” Nik said. “Why?” Gia asked. “What do you mean why? I needed to find you.” Nik said walking closer to her. Gia looked at the floor. “I thought you hated me.” Gia said, not looking up. Nik’s heart sank. “You heard what I said didn’t you?” Nik asked. Gia couldn’t stop the tears from flowing from her eyes. “Oh Gia I’m so sorry.” Nik said. He went to touch her face but she flinched and he pulled his hand away. “It hurts.” Gia said gesturing to her cut, Nik nodded. “Nikolas, I’m sorry. I’ve been a total bitch this whole time.” Gia said. Nik smiled at her honesty. “I have to tell you something.” Gia said. “Anything.” Nik breathed. “That guy Zander, he’s my boyfriend.” Gia said. “I know.” Nik said. Gia’s eyebrows knitted in confusion. “You knew?” She asked. Nik nodded. “ I could tell that first night met you when you mentioned him.” Nik said. “I can see it in your eyes. You love him.” Nik said looking down. “Yes I do.” Gia said. Nik nodded his head sadly as he looked up again. “But, I have feelings for you too and it scares me.” Gia said looking him in the eyes. “Gia, I know you’re scared but can we just start all over again? I want to get to know you.” Nik asked. Gia smiled, and nodded her head yes. “I would like that.” Gia said. “Let me take care of you tonight Gia.” Nik said extending his hand for her to take. Gia smiled and after brief consideration took his hand and let Nik guide her out of the kitchen.

I can’t believe she is letting me get this close to her, Nik thought as he was cleaning Gia’s cut with ointment. He sucked in a breath when he heard a small gasp escape Gia’s mouth when the soft cotton touched her face. She winched as he light dabbed it over the cut. After they went in and told Stefan that Gia was safe and that she had gotten lost. Stefan canceled the police report he had put in; Nik led Gia to her bedroom. She changed into a terry cloth robe and was now sitting on a chair in the corner as Nik was cleaning her wounds.

I can’t believe I’m letting him get this close to me, Gia thought as Nik cleaned her cut. She felt stupid letting him take care of her but he insisted. She had to admit it was more than a little nice to have him there. She could feel his warm breath on her face as he leaned in to observe the cut. He was now cleaning her right hand witch was badly scraped from stopping her fall. He cleaned it and wrapped it in some gauze, then turned it over and kissed the back of it as he looked up at her. Her heart melted at the look in his eyes.

“Your not as tough as you seem Princess Sparky.” Nik said smiling at her. Gia scrunched up her face. “Oh?” She challenged. “Nope, in fact you’re a bit of a baby.” Nik said. Gia’s mouth opened in shock. “I’m a baby?” She screeched. “Oh no, you don’t sound like a baby at all.” Nik said laughing. “Shut up!” Gia sulked, crossing her arms in front of her. Nik smirked at her and she couldn't help but smirk back. “Goodnight Princess Sparky.” Nik said, leaning in and kissing her cheek. “Goodnight Prince Creepy.” Gia said smiling. Nik laughed as he headed for the door. “Nikolas.” Gia said when he reached the door; he turned to look at her. “Thank you for looking for me.” She said. “I’ve been looking for you all my life Gia.” Nik said smiling, he turned and walked out, closing the door behind him. Gia squealed as she plopped herself down on her bed with a smile on her face. She rolled over and closed her eyes, and eased into a deep sleep.
