Uninvited CH 1
Nikolas was shocked. I have to marry this woman? He thought. I can’t believe
that my uncle would do this to me. An arranged marriage? Who does that anymore?
He thought. I’ve known my whole
life that I this was to happen but I guess it never hit me until now that
I am to marry a woman I don’t even know. What if I never love her? I know I
won’t! What if I just can’t stand her? I mean, what are the odds that I
would love someone that someone else decided I would? I can’t! I just can’t
marry someone I don’t even know! Nik thought. Today was the day he was going
to meet his mystery bride. Nik thought he was going to die.
“Nikolas?” “Nikolas are you listening to me?” Stefan asked his nephew.
“What uncle?” “I said are you listening to me?” “Umm sure, you said
that I would grow to love her and that I might thank you someday.” Nik said.
“Yes and I think that’s true.” His uncle said. “Yes but what if your
wrong?” “What if I can’t stand her?” Nik asked. “Nikolas, I’m afraid
you don’t have a choice in the matter.” “This arrangement was made when
you were a baby.” “This woman was chosen for you and she is a very suitable
match for you.” Stefan said. “Now the princess will be here shortly so you
need to go get ready.” He said before he left.
Nikolas was freaking out. He couldn’t believe his uncle was making him do this. As he was putting on his Armani suit he couldn’t suppress the feelings of panic in his stomach. This was it! he tolled himself. My life is over. I am 23 years old and I’m being forced to marry a woman I don’t even know. I’ll never get to experience real love. I’ll live my whole life without even knowing what it feels like to love a woman more than life its self. How sad my life will be Nik thought as he finished dressing.
“Nikolas!!” “Nikolas get down here right now!!” “The princess will be here any minute and you must be down here when she gets here!!” Stefan yelled from downstairs.
Nikolas mournfully descended downstairs. His whole body heavy with emotion. He couldn’t get out of this. And he tried several times to get out of it, but there was nothing he could do.
“Nikolas please do not look like this is your death march.” Stefan said. “This is the beginning of the rest of your life.” He said with a wide grin. Nik just glared at him. God he despised him at this moment.
Nik’s heart sank when the doorbell rang. This is it, my whole future lies behind that door he thought. He wanted so much to bolt out of the room at that moment but knew that it would do him no good.
“Ah how nice to see you again, Come in please.” Stefan said when the door was opened. Nik could see nothing from his position next to the staircase. “Nikolas come here please.” Stefan said in the entryway. Nik slowly walked into the room. Stefan stepped aside, clearing Nik’s line of vision.
When his uncle moved away, Nik felt as though his breath was drawn from his body. He could not believe the sight before him. Standing in the entryway was the most incredible thing he had ever seen in his life. The most beautiful woman that Nik had ever laid eyes on was standing in front of him. She smiled shyly at him and he thought he would pass out right then and there.
“Nikolas please, come here!” Stefan said in announce at his nephew.
Nikolas didn’t feel like his legs would work but he attempted and nearly failed to come closer to the beautiful creature. His heart pounded when he finally made it over to her. Extending her hand out to him, she smiled brightly.
“Princess Gia Mashaka Campbell.” His angel spoke, clasping her hand in his. When their hands touched, Nik experienced a feeling he had never felt before. He couldn’t describe it if you asked him to. The closest he could was…electricity. Nik couldn’t say anything. He couldn’t remember his own name. Finally it came to him, he needed to say something. He was sure he looked like a complete idiot.
“Nikolas Mikhail Stevonavich Cassadine.” He said, flashing her a genuine smile. Nikolas was barely aware of the fact that his uncle had escorted Gia’s parents to the other room. And never even heard when his uncle tells him that they would give the two some time to get acquainted.
The moment they were alone, Gia’s whole expression changed. “Let’s get one thing strait.” She said, crossing her arms in front of her. “The only reason I’m doing this is because they (pointing to her parents in the other room) are making me.” “I do not and probably never will love you.” Gia said and then turned and went into the room with everyone else.
