Nikolas
looked down at the gun in his hand, tears slowly made their way down his face.
He looked at Juan on the ground, blood gushing from a wound on his chest.
Nikolas knew just by looking at him that Juan was dead. He was vaguely aware of
the sound or sirens in the air.
Nikolas
knelt down beside the man he was raised to hate, his wife’s cousin.
“Oh
god what happened?” Nik said, His breathing becoming heavy as he kneeled down
beside Juan. There was a time in Nik’s life that he would have been giddy
about what happened. But as he looked down at Juan, unconscious and bleeding, he
felt nothing but remorse.
Nik
was sobbing when Lt. Taggert arrived.
“Drop
the gun and slowly turn around with your hands in the air!” Taggert ordered.
Nikolas looked around, his eye rapidly moving as he began to break from the
trance he was in. It finally sunk in that it was actually a gun that he was
holding so tightly in his hand. His heart started to pound as he dropped the gun
on the floor. On weak legs he slowly got up and placed his hands on his head. He
slowly turned around and faced the man who was yelling at him.
“I
didn’t do it.” Nik said.
Taggert
read him his wrights before Nikolas could say another word. Nik nodded his head
and let Taggert put the handcuffs on his wrists.
An
hour later, Nikolas paced back and forth in his empty jail cell, his aunt Alexis
was out of town and she was flying in to handle the case. He looked up when he
heard the door open and looked at the guard who walked in.
“You
have permission to use the phone.” The man said. Nik nodded his head and was
escorted out to a phone. He prayed that his brother was home.
“Lucky
it’s Nikolas.” He said into the phone.
“Hey
bro I wasn’t expecting to hear from you tonight, I thought you’d be pretty
tiered.” Lucky teased.
“Lucky
listen to me, something happened tonight. Juan Corinthos is dead, and they think
I did it. Lucky you need to go to Gia and tell her I didn’t do it before
someone else tells her what happened.” Nik said.
“Oh
God, OK Nikolas I’ll find her don’t worry.” Lucky said, hanging up the
phone.
