When Gia told him he needed to get help, Nik thought of the one person who could help him get through this. He smiled happily when Stefan arrived and embarrassed him in a tight hug. “Nikolas it’s so good to see you.” Stefan said as he pulled away. “You too uncle, it’s been so long.” Nik said, his eyes wet with tears. “It has. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to come to the wedding.” Stefan said. “Oh uncle I understand. Your friends funeral was important.” Nik said. “What did Gia do to the place? I told her she could do whatever she wanted before I left and it looks like she has. It’s incredible!” Stefan said looking around. “Where is Gia?” He asked. Nik looked down and ran his fingers through his hair. “Uh well I know I didn’t say much over the phone.” Nik said. “Yes but I told you that I would come in an instant if you needed me and you sounded desperate on the phone.” Stefan said. “Here lets sit down.” Nik said ushering his uncle to the couch in the living room. “What is it Nikolas?” Stefan said touching Nik’s shoulder. “Uncle, Gia left me.” Nik said. “What?” Stefan was shocked. “Nikolas what happened?” Stefan asked. Nik proceeded to tell his uncle about how busy he had become since taking over the business and how he decided that encouraging Gia to spend more time with Lucky would keep Gia out of the way. And about Gia’s accident. He also told him about the party and how he was a complete jerk and ended up punching Lucky out of jealousy.

“So that’s when she left? Stefan asked after listening to Nik talk. “Yes and that’s not all uncle. I went over to Lucky’s the other night and had a fit when I found out she was staying with Lucky. I tried to drag her out uncle!” Nik said as tears welled up in his eyes. “Now who does that sound like?” He asked. Stefan said nothing. “Uncle, Gia told me that she is pregnant.” Nik said.
Stefan was in shock. “Is the baby yours Nikolas?” Stefan asked. “Of course the baby’s mine! Things were better between us at first after the accident, almost normal. But I got busy again and soon began to work more. Yes uncle I’m sure the baby is mine.” Nik said. “I can’t lose Gia and I want she and the baby in my life.” Nik said. “I just need some help, and I thought you might be able to.” Nik said. “Of course I can help you Nikolas.” Stefan said. He pulled Nikolas in for a hug and let him cry. Nik cried like a baby in his uncle’s loving arms.

~~Lucky’s Apartment~~

“What’s going on here?” Lucky asked when he came home from work and found Gia with her bags packed. “Gia are you going back to him?” Lucky asked. “No Lucky, but I can’t stay here. I think I need this separation from Nikolas as a time to get to know myself.” Gia said. “I love staying with you, we have a lot of fun hanging out, but I feel like I need to be on my own for a while.” Gia said. “Are you sure that’s what you want?” Lucky asked. Gia nodded. “I’m going to move next door to Alexis.” Gia said. “I think it would be nice to have her and Kristina there next door if I need anything. And I’ve always liked that place.” Gia said. “Yeah I think that’s a good idea. That way you can be next to family” Lucky said. “I’m going to miss you though.” Lucky said. “I know I’ll miss you too.” Gia said bringing him in for a hug. “But you can come over and visit anytime. And we’ll still hang out together.” Gia said. “Hey yeah what do you say we get together and take some pictures tomorrow afternoon? I can get that roll we took the other day developed by then and we can look at them together.” Lucky said. “Sounds great!” Gia said smiling.

Stefan watched his nephew squirm while he slept. He listened as little whimpers escaped from his lips. He pondered what had him acting this way. Wondering what his dreams were of. Gia? The baby? Business? Maybe Stavros? Nik’s breathing began to grow heavier and his chest began to rise and fall in desperate gasps. Stefan picked up the phone and dialed a number. “Dr. Core? This is Stefan Cassadine. Do you remember me? Yes I’d like to schedule an appointment for my nephew Nikolas Cassadine. Thursday would be fine, thank you,” Stefan said into the phone. “I’m going to help you Nikolas.” Stefan whispered as he leaned in and stroked his hair.

Gia walked into her fully furnished penthouse and sighed. “Well baby, this is our new home.” Gia said rubbing her stomach. “Hopefully it won’t be for long but we’ll be together.” She said. She smiled down at her tummy. “You and me are going to become fast friends.” She said, looking around the empty room.
