Princess Sparky

Gia was sitting in the living room at Windermere anxiously waiting for Nik to come home. He was busy all day and he never even called her. She started to get up and pace around the room. “OK Gia it’s only 6:00 and he usually gets home at 5:30 it’s no big deal.” She told herself. But still she was freaking out. “Doesn’t he know what day it is?” She said aloud, feeling foolish that she was talking to no one. It was Valentine’s Day and Gia, a hopeless romantic gave the whole staff the day off. So she was completely alone in the old dreary house.

“Oh god what if something happened to him? Oh please be safe Nikolas!” She said. Telling herself that no one could here her, gave Gia freedom to ramble on like she was. “OK Gia, get a hold of yourself here! He’s been late plenty of times.” But she would never have thought he would keep her waiting on today of all days.

Her mind was racing. Thinking about the last few days it occurred to Gia that Nikolas had not once mentioned Valentines Day. “He did forget!” Gia exclaimed. “But this day is so special to us” She thought sadly.

Thoughts of Nik hurt started to run through Gia’s head again. “This is nuts!” She said pacing again. “It’s 10:00 at night and he’s not here yet!” She had already tried calling him on his cell, she called Lucky and even called Laura and no one knew where he was. She was really beginning to panic now. She was so close to calling the police and almost did but then she heard his keys turning in the door.

Rushing to the door Gia jumped into Nik’s arms as soon as he walked in, nearly knocking him down.

“Where have you been??” Gia asked as soon as she pulled away, tears streaming down her face. “What do you mean? Honey you know I had to work today, I just got done later than I expected.” Nik said. “And you couldn’t have called? And why the hell was your cell phone off?” Gia demanded. “I’m sorry baby but I was in a meeting and I couldn’t be disturbed.” Nik said. “You could have called Nikolas.” “Gia why are you so mad?” Nik asked. “You can’t think of one reason why I would want you to call me today?” Gia asked. Gia was pissed when he looked confused and shook his head. She was so mad she couldn’t even look at him. “I’m going to bed!” Gia said, bolting upstairs. When Nikolas didn’t come upstairs after her, Gia began to cry. “How could he have forgotten?” She whispered through her tears. Gia’s eyes closed, still crying she finally drifted asleep her tears going cold on her cheeks.

Gia’s eyes fluttered open when she felt something brush her lips, instantly forgetting the dream she was having. “Sparky.” Nik said smiling down at her. Gia started to sleepily smile back at him but then remembered what he had done to her that day and turned her head away. “Hey” Nik said, brushing her cheek with his palm. “Nikolas.” Gia said but was stopped by Nik’s finger on her lips. “Shhhh” Nik whispered in her ear. Gia cursed herself for the shiver it caused. “Come here.” He said lifting her up but felt her resistance. “Gia please just trust me.” Nik said. Gia gave in at let him drag her out of bed.

Nik picked Gia up and carried her down the stairs. Leading her out the door. “Nikolas what on earth..” Gia started to say but was cut off again, this time by Nik’s lips.

Gia’s eyes were filled with shock when Nik opened the front door. Seeing Sheba saddled and waiting. Nik propped her up onto the horse and pulled himself up behind her. Nik guided the horse into a gallop.

Dressed in only a pink silk nightgown, Gia immediately felt the cold air hit her body. She pressed her body further into Nik’s warm arms.

Sheba came to a halt at a grassy hilltop. A part of Windermere Gia had never seen before. Gia gasped at what she saw in front of her. There was a blanket laid out on the grass covered in rose petals. A basket was sitting to the side and there were candles everywhere.

Nik dismounted the horse; he then brought his arms up to Gia’s waist and helped her down. He led her over to the blanket and guided her down. Sitting next to her he leaned in and kissed her cheek. “I thought you forgot.” Gia said misty eyed. “Gia how could I ever forget the best day of my life?” Nik said. “I wanted this to be a surprise.” Nik said. Gia started to shiver and Nik pulled out another blanket from the basket and wrapped it around them. “Why did you bring me here Nikolas?” Gia asked. “Well like I’ve said before nothing about us can ever become a habit.” Nik said with a smile. “I just thought I would prove it to you.” He said with a small laugh. Gia gave him kind of an annoyed look. He smiled and kissed her nose. “I guess I just wanted to bring you somewhere that you’ve never seen before. I know you hate this place but I always liked coming here and looking up at the stars. And I wanted to give you something.” Nik said.

Nik got up and walked over to the basket and pulled out a box and handed it to Gia. Gia opened to the box and found a beautiful diamond tiara inside. Her eyes lit up with wonder. “Nikolas.” She breathed. “Gia” Nik said sitting beside her again. “From the moment I met you I knew that you would change my life. Even though you came into it in a, shall we say, unconventional way.” Nik said smiling. “I knew that you and I would know each other for the rest of our lives. You accepted me and my lifestyle so graciously. You stood by me when I was going through a lot of tough times. Gia you mean more to me than anything I’ve ever known. So when Valentine’s Day came around again, I wanted to do something special for you. I wanted to let you know that I will always remember this day and I wanted to tell you that you will always be my princess sparky.” Nik said, placing the tiara on her head. “I love you Gia.” Nik said. Tears were streaming down Gia’s face. Nik leaned in to kiss her but Gia pulled away. Gia crossed her arms in front of her chest and glared at him. “Don’t you ever to that to me again Nikolas Cassadine!” She said hotly. Her face softened and they both began to laugh. “I love you Sparky.” Nik said with laughter in his voice. “I love you too Nikolas.” Gia said, finally kissing her prince.
