My New Best Friend CH 12
“Seth, Seth!” Gia yelled running in the cottage excitedly. She never noticed Nik sitting on the couch studying until he spoke. “He’s at work.” Nik said. “Oh.” Gia said deflated. Nik was a little hurt by her disappointment. “What’s up?” He asked. Gia looked a little shy. “Oh nothing much I just got a job that’s all.” She said. “You did? Where?” Nik asked. “Well, you’re going to find out sooner or later so I might as well just tell you. I got a job at L&B. Ned said that he thinks I have talent and he’s going to work on making me famous but in the mean time he said I can work there, doing PR work. I’m sorry Nikolas.” Gia said not looking at him. “Sorry for what?” Nik asked. “Well I know that you wouldn’t want me working with you and I really was reluctant to go to Ned in the first place because I knew you would be mad. But this whole thing just kind of happened and I’m sorry.” Gia said. Nik felt in enormous amount of guilt in the pit of his stomach. “Gia come here, please.” Nik said setting his book on the coffee table in front of him and telling her to sit next to him on the couch. “Why do you think I wouldn’t want you working with me?” He asked. Gia gave him a look. “Oh come on Nikolas I know that I annoy you and I know that you would get tired of having me in the way.” Gia said. Nik quickly took her hands in his and looked into her soft brown eyes. “Gia why do you think that I don’t like you so much? Just because I don’t want a relationship with you, it doesn’t mean I don’t care about you.” Nik asked. Gia laughed. “You tell me to go away all the time Nikolas, I’m not dumb and I’m not some fragile little girl either I’m a grown women and I can handle a person not liking me.” Gia said. “But I do like you!” Nik exclaimed. Gia looked away from him. “I don’t normally get this way. I’m usually really confident and don’t care what people think. But for some reason I care about what you think more than anyone I’ve ever met, even more so then..never mind.” Gia said softly. Nik’s heart began to race. “Who were you going to say Gia?” Nik said. “Nothing.” She said. Gia started to get up and leave but Nik grabbed her firmly on the wrist and pulled her back down on the couch. “Tell me Gia.” Nik said. “Fine, you want to know? I’ve never felt like a disappointment like this to anyone else since Jeff OK?” Gia said rather roughly. Nik was shocked, feeling like someone had kicked him in the stomach he dropped her hands and looked away. “Gia I don’t feel that way about you, I don’t. You are an amazing person and I want to get to know you better.” Nik said. Nik turned to her and looked into her eyes. “Gia please, will you give me a chance to prove to you that I want you around?” Nik asked. Gia thought about it. “OK, fine Nikolas, then come with me. Just close that book of yours and come spend some time getting to know me. Can you do that?” Gia asked. “Yeah I can do that, lets go Gia. I’ll do anything you want me to do.” He said pulling her to a standing position. “OK, just remember that you said that.” Gia said mischievous smile, witch made Nikolas feel nervous. But he nodded his head and let Gia lead him out of the cottage.
Seth stood behind the bar of club 101 and poured a customer a drink; it was a busy night at the club. “Hey, how are you doing Seth?” Carly asked walking up to him. Seth turned around and looked at her, a smile spreading across his tan face. “It’s going great my friend, can I get you a drink?” He asked cheerfully. Carly smiled at him. “No that’s OK sweetie, you know what, why don’t you take a break?” Carly asked. “Yeah? You sure?” Seth asked. “Sure, I’ve been watching you for the last few weeks and I think I can handle the drinks for a while. Why don’t you go mingle or something?” Carly suggested. “OK.” Seth said. He dropped the towel he had in his hands and walked over the dance floor and began to dance, he was by him self but that didn’t stop him. Carly was amazed at how good a dancer he was. “You go boy!” She yelled over to him. Seth laughed as he continued to put on a show for her. He noticed someone looking at him at a table in the corner. They smiled at each other and when Seth’s song was over, he made his way over to him. “Hi, I’m Seth.” He said holding his hand out to him. “Hey, I’m Paul.” He said rather shyly. Seth looked at the young man before him; his short crew cut was a sandy blond color. His light blue eyes, pierced into Seth’s dark blue ones. “Do you want to dance?” Seth asked. Paul smiled. “I would like that.” He said fallowing Seth over to the dance floor.
Nik got out of Gia’s bimmer on slightly wobbly knees and followed her over to the swing set in the park. “My god Gia, you drive faster then anyone I know, even Lucky.” Nik said astounded. “Thank you.” Gia said smiling. Nik laughed at her and looked over at her as she sat on the swing next to his, she looked beautiful. “So tell me about your life Nikolas Cassadine.” Gia said. “I thought the point of this was for me to get to know more about you?” Nik said. “Well, I changed my mind. You know way to much about me as it is.” Gia said. “I guess that’s true. Well what do you want to know about?” Nik asked. “Well, how about your mom for starters. Do you get along with her?” Gia asked. “Well I don’t know much about her or my brother and sister, I met her when my sister was a baby and she needed my blood. I didn’t know her at all before that. I think she just wanted me to save her child. I think that I’m kind of a reminder of a time in her life that she would like to forget.” Nik said. “Well, no offence but why are you still here then if your mother only wanted you to save your sister?” Gia asked. “Well, I stayed so that I could get to know my family better.” Nik said. “But you just said that you don’t know about them, why not?” Gia asked. “I don’t know, I guess I’m just not like them.” Nik said looking at his feet as he swung. “Nikolas, you know if you wanted to know them better you could, you’re just so concerned about what your uncle thinks.” Gia said. “You don’t know what you’re talking about Gia, OK? You don’t know what it’s like to be me.” Nik said, his voice rising. “Well from what I can see there is nothing hard about your life Nikolas, you’re rich and you don’t even have to work for your money, but you choose to. And why? So you can prove it to your uncle?” Gia said standing up from her swing. “You don’t know what it’s like to be me.” Nik said in a slow stern voice as he looked into her eyes. “So tell me everything.” Gia challenged him. Nik looked away. “I’m a prince OK?” Nik said softly. “Yeah I know, you’re a spoiled prince, that’s not an excuse Nikolas.” Gia said sarcastically. “No, Gia I mean it. I’m a prince. My family is royalty and I’m the heir to the Cassadine throne.” Nik said looking at her. Gia studied his face. “You’re not kidding are you? Oh my god, so you’re a prince? Well that explains a lot.” Gia said nodding her head slowly. Nik glared at her. “What is that supposed to mean?” He asked. “Well, you wanting to prove yourself to your uncle Stephen.” Gia said. “Stefan.” Nik corrected. Gia glared at him. “Right, anyway you wanting to prove yourself to him. And also, you living like you do, living in the cottage you live in, driving the car that you have.” Gia said. “I could say they same for you Gia, where do you get the money to pay for that car?” Nik questioned. “Nope, we’re talking about you. It would also explain why you shut people out.” Gia said. “What are you talking about?” Nik asked getting angry. “Well, its simple. You don’t want anyone to get close to you because some day, you’re going to become and prince and you won’t have time for love, and even if you did have time, you could never really let someone into your heart completely because they wouldn’t fit into your world. So you push people away.” Gia said as she paced in front of his swing. “Well at least you get it now.” Nik said. Gia swung around and looked at him. “But what’s a world without love?” Gia asked. “Do you have any idea how corny that sounds?” Nik asked. Gia quickly walked up to him and crushed her lips to his. Nik fought her at first. His lips remained clamped tightly shut. But the second Gia’s tongue darted out; he opened his mouth to taste it. He relished in the flavor of Gia, his tongue circling hers in a powerful battle. His hands reached up and caressed her head as the kiss continued. Gia pulled away abruptly. “That Nikolas. Is a glimpse of what love can be like.” Gia said. She raised her hand and lightly touched his face, watching his eyes close. “Just imagine what it would be like if you gave in Nikolas.” Gia whispered. She quickly dropped her hand, causing Nikolas to feel cold without her touch; he shivered as the cool air hit his cheek. “I’m ready to go home Nikolas.” Gia yelled behind her as she made her way to the car. Nik sat for a while, trying to grasp what just happened. Whatever it was, he wanted more and that scared the shit out of him.
Gia hadn’t said a word to Nikolas as she drove home? Walking into the cottage and seeing that Seth was home she made her way up the stairs. Muttering a quick goodnight to Nik before she disappeared up the stairs. She knew that Seth was asleep when she first came in; put knew that he woke up as she undressed. She pulled on a short, dark blue silk nightgown and crawled up onto the bed. “Hey you.” Seth said. He wrapped his arms around her as her body lingered over his. Seth accepted the kiss that she leaned over and placed on his lips. Gia pulled away slightly and sighed as she looked down at his loving face. “I’m in love Red.” Gia said laying her head down on his chest. “Me too.” Seth said softly, unfortunately not softly enough as Gia’s head shot up at his words. “What did you just say?” She asked. “Nothing.” Seth tried to cover. Gia shook her head slowly. “No no no, you tell me right now Seth.” Gia demanded. “I met someone tonight. But you know it can’t go anywhere.” Seth said. “Honey, it’s been almost four years.” Gia said gently. She saw Seth’s eyes begin to tear up and knew hers would as well if she continued to speak, so instead she hugged him and laid her head down on his chest.
Nikolas lay in his bed; he couldn’t sleep since he got home from the park. He thought back to the kiss that he and Gia shared merely minutes ago. Reaching up, he lightly grazed his fingertips over his lips. His tongue ran across them as he tried in vain to taste her again. His heart began to race as he thought about her. Nik sighed at he looked up at the ceiling. What was she doing to him? He finally closed his eyes but his thoughts of Gia lingered on in his dreams as he slept.
