CH 15                Gia's dress

The night of the party was frantic. Gia hadn’t seen Nik all weekend. She was getting so sick of not being with him. The night he got home was great. They were finally able to sleep in the same bed but that didn’t last long. Gia was more than ready to give Nik a piece of her mind as soon as everyone was gone.

Gia felt miserable. Her hands were clammy and her head was spinning, and Nik wasn’t even there to notice. Gia really needed to talk to Nik, she couldn’t keep things from him much longer. Lucky was going to be here tonight and that was her only thing she was looking forward to but she knew he would be late. She really needed him to get through this night but understood that she would have to be without him for a while until he got there, she wasn’t happy about that but she would deal with it.

Gia decided to wear a red evening dress, simple but sexy. With spaghetti straps and a crisscross back, there were cuts on both sides of her midriff. Her braids were undone, causing beautiful curls to drape her practically bare shoulders. She looked in the mirror and should have been pleased with herself but couldn’t help noticing how pale she looked. She brushed all of her makeup on and that helped some, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that she looked awful. She knew that Nik would be pissed if she didn’t get her butt down there right now. People were already here and she knew that Nik would want her down there by his side. She took a deep breath and headed out of her bedroom.

Descending down the stairs, Gia interred the great hall filled with people. Their gusts were crowded around, chattering away. She looked around the crowded ballroom and saw no sign of Nikolas. She finally spotted him talking to a group of people who were all laughing and seemed to be quit impressed with the prince.

Gia confidently walked up to the group and stood beside Nikolas. He didn’t even notice her standing there, but a very attractive young man with blond hair and gorgeous blue eyes did. He stopped mid sentence when he saw Gia. Nik noticed the redirection of his gaze and fallowed it, taken back when he saw Gia standing there. She looked stunning. It took him a while to regain his composer. “Uh, this is uh, my wife Gia.” Nik stumbled. “Gia this is Casey Jackson of Jackson Incorporated.” Nik said. Gia smiled brightly and shook his hand, he was nothing like she’d expected. He was much younger than she thought he was. She had hated the man for being such a big part in the cause of her and Nik’s problems. But standing here in front of him, she found it hard to be mad at him. “Well, you’re a lucky man Mr. Cassadine.” Casey said, never taking his eyes off of Gia. Nik noticed Casey look at his wife and felt proud that she was his. “Thank you” Nik said, kissing her cheek.” “And how would you know?” Gia asked coldly, pulling away from the kiss. Nik looked at her sharply. “Will you excuse us?” Nik asked the groups, who all nodded in agreement.

“What the hell was that all about?” Nik asked when they were alone. Gia was ready to kill him. She hadn’t seen him for two days and now he wanted to act like he owned her. “What the hell?” “I’ll tell you what they hell is wrong Nikolas.” “I haven’t seen you all weekend, I slept alone in that bed for nights!” “Now when your friend notices me, you act like I’m some kind of prize you’ve won?” Gia started to raise her voice. Witch Nik shot a warning look at her for. Gia glared back at him. “No Nikolas, I will not act like everything is perfect between..” Gia’s head started to spin. “Gia are you OK?” Nik asked as she started to grab onto his arm for support, she removed her hand quickly. “What do you care Nikolas?” “Have you even thought about me once these last two days?” Gia asked. Nik looked down. “Gia you know how busy I’ve been busy.” “I just need to get past this party, please.” Nik said. He sounded so desperate that Gia gave in. “Fine, let’s just get past this damn night!” Gia said, grabbing his arm and guiding him back to the group of people.

Nik looked up at his wife. How does she do it? The whole room was absolutely fascinated by Gia. She was making everyone laugh and have a great time. He loved her so much. He touched her back with his hand and cringed when he felt her flinch under his touch. He sadly dropped his hand.

Gia had been laughing with all these people she barely knew but inside it was killing her. She hated how shallow these people were. They were all so rich and snobby and she just didn’t fit in. But being the wonderful actress she can sometimes be, she pretended to be just like them. It was killing her to act like she fit in, and then there was Nikolas, she could kill him right now. He was being so fake she could barely stand it. He would smile brightly and act like the perfect gentleman. She would catch him looking at her sometimes but she would look the other way. If only these woman she knew how he treated his wife, they would not envy her like she knew they did. No woman would want to be ignored, and Gia was not going to be ignored anymore. She was more than ready to tell Nik exactly how things were going to be. She closed her eyes and prayed the night would go by quickly.

“Mr. Jackson.” Gia said. “Casey, please.” He said with a smile, witch she returned. “Casey, if you don’t mind my asking, you seem so young, how old were you when you started your own company?” Gia asked. “Oh well my father owned it and I inherited it from him a year ago, I was 24.” Casey said. “Oh I see.” Gia said smiling.

Nik was couldn’t take his eyes of off Gia. For the first time in months he was able to really admire his wife. He loved and missed her so much it was killing him. He wanted to reach out and touch her but he knew she wouldn’t let him. She was mad and he knew it. He was dreading the moment this party was over, he was afraid of what she’d say. He could tell by watching her that she wasn’t happy. She had a beautiful smile on her face and was politely conversing with Casey, but he knew she wasn’t happy. He was totally amazed at how good she was at making people feel like they were special, even when he knew she was playing them. She was in the middle of talking to someone when Nik saw her gaze off at something in the corner of the room. He watched as a real smile spread across her beautiful face, a genuine Gia smile. It made his heart soar and he had to catch his breath. An aching feeling swept over him when he fallowed her gaze and saw Lucky interring the room.
