In dreams & in love there are no impossibilities.

CH 23

“Gia what’s wrong?” Marcus asked as his sister stepped into the room. She looked petrified. “Nothing I just, I wanted to get back here. I was worried about you.” She answered. Taggert eyed her. “You know what the doctor said, I’m going to be fine. Don’t worry about it OK? You need to go get some sleep. Those chairs pushed together have got to be uncomfortable.” he said, his voice slightly hoarse. Gia nodded her head softly and walked up to her brother’s bed. Her heart was still pounding in fear. What was it with this town? Why did everyone seem familiar to her? “Are you sure that’s it?” Marcus asked, seeing the look in her eyes. Gia sighed. “Marcus have you ever had a dream that just felt so real that you just knew deep down inside that it was?” she asked. Marcus was thrown by her question. “I guess, why?” he asked. Gia shook her head. “Nevermind, I uh where did mom go?” Gia asked. Marcus smiled. “She went to go clean my house so that you two can stay there.” He said. Gia’s face formed an expression of complete disgust. “She wants me to stay with her?” She screeched. Marcus chuckled slightly. “She loves you Gia. She wants this time to reconnect with you.” Marcus had a teasing tone to his voice that made Gia glare at him. Taggert looked at her. “You really do need sleep Gia, you look exhausted.” Marcus said. “I’m fine Marcus.” Gia reassured. “When’s the last time you had more than four hours of sleep?” he asked. “OK fine, I’ll go, but I’m coming back as soon as I get a little rest. And you should too! You just got shot Marcus; you need to take it easy. Do you hear me?” Gia said standing up and pointing her finger at him. “OK Gia I get it, now go get some sleep. I’ll see you soon.” Marcus said. Gia got up and kissed his cheek before walking towards the door. “Gia.” She turned around when he said her name. “It’s good to see you baby girl.” He said. Gia’s eyes glistened with tears. “You too Marcus.” She whispered.

Nik sat on the plane, with his knee unconsciously bouncing with excitement; he looked down at it and noticed, then stopped his nervous tick. He sighed loudly. He still couldn’t believe it. He actually saw Jordyn, and touched her and talked to her. And soon he would be seeing Gia, and if he was lucky, he could talk to her and touch her too. His heart pounded with that thought. He had never been this excited. But he was nervous, he wondered if she was real but didn’t share his dreams. Or what if she was real but she was really married or had a boyfriend. Or worse, what if she wasn’t in love with him any more? After all he told her that he was in love with someone else. If she didn’t love him anymore, than it would be his own fault. But he had to take a chance, he had to find her and he had to tell her how much he loves her, if not, he would be forced to marry someone he didn’t love. He began to feel uneasy, nervous as his pilot announced their landing. But he had to do this, he needed to get to the hospital and find Gia.

Lucky walked up to the front desk at Cassadine Industries and smiled at Jewel. He was still a little freaked out about the encounter he had with the woman at Kelly’s. She seemed terrified of him; he tried to seem calm and casual as he approached the desk. “Hi Jewel, have you seen my brother lately?” he asked. “No I haven’t seen him in a couple of days, and even when I did see him, he seemed very out of it. His uncle has been pressuring him to make a choice about Sarah you know, I think it’s starting to get to him.” Jewel said. Lucky thought about it. “Yeah he has.” He nodded in agreement. “Well is Stefan in? Maybe I can see if he knows where he is, and while I’m at it, tell him to back off of Nikolas.” Lucky said. “Yeah he is, you know where his office is right?” She asked. “Yeah I do, I’ll just head over there right now, thanks Jewel.” Lucky said. She nodded at him and smiled softly. “Hey Lucky. Tell your brother to fallow his heart. I really think he needs to hear that.” She said. Lucky nodded his head. “I will.” He said softly.

Gia opened her eyes and looked around, disoriented at first until she realized where she was. Her brother lived in a place called the Brownstone. It was pretty small, but he had two rooms, plus a sofa bed so there was plenty of room for all of them. Yet Gia had a feeling that her brothers home would quickly begin to feel cramped and small with her mother living there. Gia sat up, she had fallen asleep on the couch, hadn’t even had the energy to pull out the bed first. She looked at the clock; she had only been asleep for three hours. She groaned as she got up and walked over to the kitchen. She picked up the note that her mother had left for her. Went to go see Marcus. I better not see you at the hospital tonight or you’ll be hearing a few words from me. You need sleep Gia. I’ll see you later baby, love you, mom. Gia made a face at the paper and hastily threw it in the trashcan. She gave up; she would eat and then go back to bed. But she was going back first thing in the morning. Gia opened her brother’s refrigerator, not really expecting to find anything, but a strawberry yogurt immediately caught her eye. She grabbed it, looked at the various other foods, shocked at first at the amount of food, but then remembered that her mother had been there for hours. She went over and located a spoon and sat down with her yogurt. After a few bites, Gia’s mind started to drift; her spoon full of yogurt was suspended in front of her face. She didn’t see it; her mind wandered to a place that at one time would bring her excitement and romance, but now brought her pain and longing. Her dreams and the man who haunted them, thoughts and memories of the exotic places they were in, all of these things brought her pain now. She missed the dreams, she missed the feelings she had when she was in his arms, she missed Nikolas. Gia suddenly burst into tears; she dropped her spoon on the table and put her hands over eyes. She sobbed, longing to be with Nikolas.

Nikolas rushed through the doors of general hospital and looked around, he realized that he wasn’t sure where he was going. All he knew, as he was on the plane, was that he had to get to the hospital, figuring that a family emergency would mean she’d be here. But now that he was here, he had no idea what to do. He looked around and spotted someone he knew. Bobbie Spencer was behind the front desk and he walked up to her quickly. “Hi Bobbie, how are you?” Nik asked. Bobbie put down the file that was in her hands and smiled at him. “Hi Nikolas, I’m doing great thank you. Is something wrong, or are you here to see Sarah?” She asked. “Sarah.” Nik breathed. “Yes?” he turned around to see her standing there. “Oh hi Sarah.” Nik said softly. Sarah smiled and leaned up to kiss him. “I missed you. Where did you go?” She asked. Nikolas immediately began to think up a lie, but he stopped himself. He needed to tell her what was going on. “Do you have a minute?” he asked. Sarah nodded her head and Nikolas took her hand and walked her over to a chair in the reception area. He sat down next to her and looked at her as he thought about what he was going to say to her. “Sarah do you remember when I told you about those dreams I was having?” he asked. “About that woman? Absolutely, what about them?” she nodded. “Well I tried to do as doctor Collins said and force her to go away, and it worked for a while, but then she came back. Sarah I knew in my heart that she was real and that I had to find her. So I analyzed my dreams and I realized that I knew where to find her all along. So I went there and it turns out that she’s here, in Port Charles, in this hospital actually.” He said. “I know.” Sarah said quickly. Nik’s jaw dropped in shock. “What do you mean you know? How could you know?” he asked. “Because I found your diary with all of your dreams in it.” She said. “You what?” Nik said starting to panic. “I found it on the bed and I read about her. I saw her here.” She said. “You saw her here? Gia?” Nik’s eyes were wide as he looked at her in disbelief. “Yeah Nikolas she was in the intensive care unit.” She said. Nik’s heart dropped. “What? Well where is she now?” he asked. “She’s not in that room any more Nikolas, I’m sorry.” She said. Nik’s breath began to labor. “What are you saying?” he whispered. “I’m saying that she didn’t look too good when I saw her in there, and now she’s not in that room anymore. Do you need me to spell it out for you Nikolas?” she asked. Nik shook his head sharply. “No.” he breathed in disbelief. He got up and backed away from her. He numbly began to walk away. “Oh I’m sorry.” He said quickly to a woman he bumped into. “Are you alright?” Florence asked. Nikolas shook his head. “No I don’t think so.” He whispered but continued to walk. Florence watched him leave with concern for him. He didn’t look too good. She shrugged and continued on her way out.
