CH 12
“Gia! Didn’t you hear what I asked you? Sally asked you a question. How come you’re not playing with me?” Jory asked. Gia focused her attention on the little girl, snapping out of a daydream of a man she had never met. “Oh I’m sorry sweetie I was just thinking about someone.” Gia said. “Who?” Jory asked. Gia smiled. “It’s none of your business sweetie now what were you saying about Sally?” Gia asked as she picked up the doll. Jordyn huffed as she brushed her curly hair out of her face and then grabbed the doll from Gia. “Nevermind Gia!” Jory shouted as she threw it to the ground. Gia frowned as she watched Jordyn start to walk away. Gia rushed over to her and picked her up. “What’s wrong Jory?” Gia asked softly. Jordyn struggled at first but then went limp in her arms. Gia held her as she cried. “Jordyn baby, please tell me what’s wrong.” Gia said as she sat down on a chair with the little girl. “Patrick left yesterday, he went to stay with a new family.” Jordyn said, tears rapidly falling down her cheeks. “Oh Jordyn, that’s what this is about? Honey, I tell you all the time, we’ll find a home for you. Don’t worry Jory, we just want to make sure that we find the best place for you to live.” Gia said. Jordyn shook her head as she sobbed even louder. “Hey.” Gia said softly as she hugged her. “I don’t want to find a home Gia, I want to stay here with you forever, please don’t let anyone take me. I love you.” Jory cried. Gia sucked in a slow breath. “Oh Jordyn, you don’t want that sweetie. You want a nice home with two parents who love you, and brothers and sisters to play with, and maybe even a dog to love.” Gia said. Jory shook her head again; her clear blue eyes shimmered with tears as they danced across Gia’s face. “No, I just want you.” She said softly as she fingered one of Gia’s long braids. Gia rocked her. “Lets not worry about that right now OK? Lets just have fun and play. I’m here with you right now and I want to spend time with you.” Gia said. Jory sat up and nodded her head sadly. “OK.” She said softy.
Gia smiled as she spotted Caleb sitting at a table at their favorite restaurant and made her way over to him. “Hey.” She said as she sat down. “Hey Gia, how was your day?” He asked. Gia sighed. “Don’t ask. But hopefully it will get better, did you find anything?” Gia asked. Caleb shook his head slowly. “No I couldn’t find anything. I found something on the name Cassadine though. It’s a Russian royal family name. But I doubt that it would mean anything to us. I looked for any Cassadine’s in New York and there just aren’t any.” Caleb said. Gia looked at the table for a moment. “I don’t get the whole royalty thing, how did you know all that?” Gia asked. “I found the name when I did a search but like I said it’s ancient. I doubt there are still any family members left. But I mean that would make this guy royalty, and I just can’t see that being realistic.” Caleb said. Gia shook her head. “No, it wouldn’t make sense.” She said. “I don’t know Caleb, maybe this whole thing is crazy. I should just forget about it.” Gia said. Caleb looked at her, his green eyes searching her face. “You don’t mean that do you?” He asked. Gia sighed. “He said to look for him Caleb. I just know he’s real.” Gia said desperately. “OK well we just won’t give up then. But lets eat because I’m starving.” Caleb said as he reached over and squeezed her hand quickly. Gia smiled. “OK.” She said.
“That was so good! I love the pasta here.” Gia said as she pushed her plate away slightly. “Yeah I know but I always eat way too much.” Caleb said patting his stomach. Gia laughed and nodded her head. “You ready to go?” She asked. Caleb nodded and they both stood up. Caleb had his hand on the sway of her back as he guided Gia and his way through the crowed of people waiting to eat. Gia was knocked into someone slightly and Caleb had to steady her. “Oh I’m sorry.” Gia said, she gasped when she looked up. “Gia.” The man said stunned. “Oh my god, Gia look who it is. Kyle man we haven’t seen you in like six months. How have you been?” Caleb asked as he stuck his hand out to Kyle. “I’m doing well thank you.” Kyle replied as he shook Caleb’s hand. Gia stood frozen in her spot as her heart pounded. This was not happening, she was seeing things. “Gia, say something you haven’t seen him in months.” Caleb said as he touched her shoulder, he pulled his hand away when she flinched. Caleb looked at Gia, confused by her behavior, as far as he knew, Kyle and Gia’s relationship ended gracefully. There were no hard feelings and they just chose to go their separate ways. “I’m sorry I’m being rude, this is my girlfriend Jasmine, Jasmine this is Gia and Caleb, some old friends of mine.” Kyle said. Gia’s eyes flicked over to the blond to Kyle’s right. She shook her head slowly, this wasn’t happening. “Gia, can I talk to you for a second?” Kyle asked. Gia said nothing but watched as Jasmine excused herself to go to a table, and was vaguely aware that Caleb had left her side to go pay for their meal. “Gia.” Kyle said as he reached out to touch her arm. Gia pulled back abruptly. “Don’t touch me! What the hell are you doing here?” Gia asked, her voice quivering. “Gia please, not so loud. I just moved back, my family needed me to run the firm. I passed my bar Gia, can you believe it?” Kyle said smiling. Gia’s heart was still racing as she looked at him. “You said that you would stay away from me, you promised. That was the deal. You said you would never come back. You swore to me.” Gia said, a panicky tone taking over her voice. “Gia, this city is so big I didn’t think we would ever run into each other. Please I don’t want to cause any problems. I’ve changed Gia, I have. I just want to move on with my life and I want you to do the same.” Kyle said. Gia wished she had the strength to slap him; but all she wanted to do was get away from him. “Stay the hell away from me Kyle or I swear to god I’ll tell Caleb the truth. You know he would kill you. Or better yet, I’ll call my brother the cop and tell him everything.” Gia said. Her eyes locked onto his and her voice serious. “I won’t come near you I swear.” Kyle said before he walked away. “Hey are you OK?” Caleb asked as he came up to Gia. “Just take me home please.” She said softly.
Gia instantly went to bed, but feared sleep. With Rory away for the weekend staying with her parents in the city, Gia was left alone. She lay in her bed, tears dripping from her face as she thought about what just happened. She just saw the man who practically ruined her life. Her heart ached and her body was filled with a familiar feeling of disgust. Her whole body shook as she curled up into a ball and slowly closed her eyes as sleep took over.
Nikolas was lost, in a hall that seemed to be leading nowhere. It was dark and the walls were narrow. He walked with a determination that he didn’t understand. Something was urging him forward. He soon heard it, a moan, a cry that made the blood in his veins curdle. He knew it was her, and he knew that he had to get to her. “Gia!” He yelled as he continued to walk briskly.
Gia was sitting up in bed, reading a book when the door opened; she looked over to see Kyle come in. She smiled at first, but it quickly faded as she looked at him. He was drunk again. He promised that this was it. That last time was the last time that he would come home like this. There would be no more violence, no more beatings. That was the deal. “What are you doing up? I told you not to wait for me.” Kyle said with annoyance. “I was reading. You said that you were going to study, I didn’t think you would be gone that long.” Gia replied. “Are you accusing me of something Gia?” Kyle slurred as he walked up to her. “Kyle come on, don’t lie to me. I know that you have been drinking. I can always tell.” Gia said. Kyle walked up to her briskly. Gia recoiled as she prepared herself for a hit. But she opened her eyes that had shut only to find him sitting close to her on the bed. Gia was shocked, and could only stare at him as his hand reached out and slowly touched her face. Her eyes blinked rapidly. She didn’t trust him. “You’re so beautiful Gia, lets make love.” Kyle said as he ran his rough fingers over her porcelain smooth cheek. Gia shook her head. “No. You’re drunk and you smell disgusting.” She said, her nose scrunching. “Don’t say that to me you bitch!” Kyle yelled as he grabbed her face roughly. “I’m sorry.” Gia said quickly. He dropped his hand. “I said that I want to make love, now take your clothes off.” Kyle said harshly. “Excuse me?” Gia said, her attitude that seemed to have left for a while returned in that moment. “You are my girlfriend and I want to have sex with you, now take your goddamn clothes off.” Kyle demanded. Gia huffed as she shook her head. “I don’t think so.” She said as she moved to get out of bed. Kyle grabbed her arms and held her still. Gia looked at him in shock. When he kicked off his shoes with his feet and got up on the bed and hovered over her, it became clear to Gia what was going on. She had heard about this happening to women, hell she feared every time she went out that it would happen to her. But she always thought that she would never let anyone rape her, she was Gia, the tough girl from the streets of Brooklyn. Gia looked down at Kyle’s hands that were clamped over her wrists so tightly, and didn’t feel tough at all, she felt like a weak child, she brought her eyes up to meet his. “Please don’t.” She uttered the words she never thought she would have to with this man. “I need you.” He said as he suddenly pulled her hips towards him. Gia was now lying flat on her back as she looked up at him. Kyle easily ripped her old T-shirt of off her, Gia screamed at the sudden sound of the fabric ripping so violently, wanting desperately to cover up her exposed skin. Her breasts felt so bare, so exposed to the world. After she felt his touch upon her breasts, Kyle moved his hands to her panties and that’s when Gia decided to try harder to defend herself. She hit him repeatedly as he fumbled to remover her undergarment. Gia cried, as her fists seemed to have no effect on his hard head and his angry face. Gia heard another rip and knew instantly, when the cool air hit her skin that she was now fully exposed to him. “No Kyle, please! Don’t do this!” Gia cried. “Why are you fighting this Gia? I told you I love you, you said that you love me. You’re my girlfriend, now why are you fighting me?” Kyle asked as he quickly went to work on his belt buckle. “I don’t want to. Not like this. Not while you’re drunk. Please don’t.” Gia begged, mesmerized by the movement of his hands. When she saw that he was struggling with the buckle, she saw that as another escape. With all of her might she tried to get away from him, to push him off of her and get out from underneath him. She screamed when Kyle struck her across the face, numbed by his blow, she watched in horror as he finished with the task of removing his pants. “Please, no! Somebody help me!” She screamed.
Nikolas moaned as he hit another dead end, his heart sank as he stopped his running. “Please, no! Somebody help me!” He heard her scream again. Nikolas cried as he looked around the tunnel desperately. “I’m coming Gia! Hold on!” Nik yelled. He blindly continued down the dark labyrinth. As he ran down the hall he heard her voice get louder and looked to his left, he found a door and opened it. “Please Nikolas, help me! No, no stop!” Gia yelled. Nikolas was shocked when he looked inside the room. The nude man's back was to him, he could see Gia’s legs under him as he was positioned between her legs, he watched from the doorway as the man slammed into her and she screamed. “GIA!!” Nik yelled. His feet were glued to the ground and he couldn’t move. All he could do was watch, tears running down his cheeks as he saw this man abuse her, hearing the sounds of her pain echo through his ears, until the man collapsed on top of her, and there was no more sound.
“Nooo!!!”
Nikolas screamed. He sat up in bed with his heart pounding and tears pouring
down his cheeks. No one had heard him in the empty castle. He panted fiercely as
he looked around. “Gia!” He sobbed.
