CH 50

Nikolas lifted his head from his hands as Sonny walked up to him. “Oh my god, is she all right?” Sonny asked quickly. Nik slowly nodded his head. “Yeah uh, yeah she’s fine.” He answered. “Then why do you look like you’re about ready to break down?” Sonny asked. Nikolas looked up at Sonny, his eyes lined with tears. “She hates me.” He said. Sonny shook his head in confusion. “What do mean she hates you?” He asked. “Sonny, I didn’t believe her and now she’s pissed at me. I would be too if it were me. I let her down Sonny.” Nikolas said, tears silently rolling down his cheeks. “I’ll talk to her.” Sonny said. Nikolas nodded but at the same time feeling hopeless.

Sonny stepped into Gia’s hospital room and felt nauseous, Gia looked sickly and tired. He hated seeing her with tubes stuck in her and her looks added with the smell of the hospital reminded him of why he hated these places. “You look good princess.” He smiled at her. Gia slowly smiled. “You never could lie to me Sonny.” She said. Sonny walked up to her bed and leaned up against it, picking up her hand and holding it. “I’m sorry I didn’t put things together sooner.” He said. Gia huffed. “Yeah well you’re not the only one who didn’t.” She looked away. “Gia you know that this is not Nikolas’s fault, you can’t blame him for it.” Sonny said. Gia sighed. “I was so scared. I prayed that he would come and find me.” she said. “And he did.” Sonny said. Gia shook her head. “Not soon enough, I would never cheat on him with Zander Sonny! Doesn’t he know me at all?” She asked. Sonny looked at her thoughtfully. “Gia, you can’t know what it’s like to be in love with a woman like you. I have been before; it can drive you crazy with fear of losing her. A man would be insane not to want a woman like you Gia, and Nikolas knows how lucky he is to have you, he probably just fears every day of his life that you will leave him one day.” He said. Gia blinked away tears. “I love him so much, I would never leave him.” She said. “Then prove it to him and let him know that nothing he does can make you leave him. Not even this.” Sonny said. Gia nodded her head softly. “I want to see him, is he still here?” Gia asked. Sonny smiled at her as he stood up. “Yeah he’s here princess. I’ll go get him.” He said. “Sonny.” she said. He turned around. “Thank you for coming to find me. You’re a really good friend to me, I love you.” She said. “I love you too Gia.” Sonny said before leaving.

“She wants to see you.” Sonny said. Nik looked up at him, startled by the sound of his voice. “She does?” he asked in shock. “Yeah.” Sonny nodded. “Thank you, for what ever you said to her, thank you.” Nik stood up. Sonny got close to him; Nik looked at his intense face, not sure what was up. “If you hurt her Nikolas, I will kill you.” Sonny said. He walked away without saying another word.

Nikolas knocked briefly on the door to Gia’s room before opening it up and stepping inside. She had had her eyes closed and she opened them when he walked in. He looked into her eyes and saw the undeniable love in them, he longed to hold her, to tell her that he loves her, but he didn’t know if she would let him.

Gia had closed her eyes and waited for Nikolas, she wasn’t sure if she wanted to see him, but she thought about what Sonny said and it made sense. When she heard him knock and open the door, she slowly opened her eyes and looked into his. When she looked at him her anger drifted away, and she longed for him to hold her.

“You wanted to see me?” Nik asked awkwardly. “I would never cheat on you Nikolas!” she shouted, she hadn’t planned on it, it just came out. “Gia I don’t know what I was thinking, I was just so sure that you didn’t love me and that you wanted to be with Zander. I’ve always felt like you didn’t want this. You hated me when you first came here but I’ve always loved you. I was afraid that I forced you to love me and I thought that your heart really belonged to Zander and that you hated that I was keeping you here. I thought you went back to him because you wanted him instead of me.” Nik said. He stopped to take a breath, he was crying freely. “Nikolas, come here.” Gia held her hand out to him; he was standing so far away. He immediately went to her, his heart pounding and longing to be closer to her. He took her hand in his when she got to her. “How can I prove to you that I love you? What do I have to do?” Gia asked. Nikolas shook his head. “I don’t know.” He admitted. Gia reached up and gripped his head, pulling him to her and kissing him. Nikolas moaned, god he had missed her so much, he kissed her back fiercely. Gia pulled back and rested her forehead against his. “I love you Nikolas, more than I ever thought I could love someone. I missed you every night we were apart and I prayed that you would come and find me. I would never leave you, I want to marry you and be with you forever. I want to be your wife.” Gia said desperately. Nikolas was crying heavily, he kissed her lips, wrapped his arms around her and then kissed her cheek. “I’m so sorry.” He sobbed. Gia scooted back and invited him to join her in her hospital bed, knowing that she probably wasn’t supposed to. Nikolas crawled up on the bed and Gia lay on top of his chest. “Will you just hold me Nikolas?” She whispered. Nik nodded his head, he couldn’t speak, he just held her to him. She fell asleep in his arms but Nikolas stayed awake, he felt so guilty, he was disgusted with himself. He finally closed his eyes and fell asleep as well.
