“Gia? Gia please open your eyes baby, come on can you hear me?” There was nothing but darkness, and her eyes remained shut. She was in a strange state. She could hear him talking but she could not will her eyes to open. She was calm, and some place outside of her body. Nikolas was with her she knew, she could hear him crying and felt his presence. But then she was aware of movement, and that she was being lifted, and then placed onto something solid. She was away from Nikolas now. People were rushing around her. That should have scared her but she was still calm. For some reason she still couldn’t get herself to open her eyes. “Gia please wake up, I love you so much.” She heard Nikolas say, his voice was the only sound he focused on. This time, she really tried, and slowly light began to peak through her lids. Everything was blurry, but her eyes focused on something, it was his face. “I love you too Nikolas.” She said softly. Light and dark were rapidly flashing as her eyes fluttered. She closed them again. “You’re OK Gia, you’re going to be OK.” She heard Nik say. She knew she was. She didn’t understand why he was so worried. She was so calm. “No! I have to stay with her, get away from me. She’s trying to say something. Please I’m her fiancé.” Nikolas was yelling. She wanted to wake up and fight for him. She could hear his struggling and she wanted to help him. But she couldn’t. “What do you mean that’s not immediate family? I don’t want to ride in the front. God fine!” Gia’s face contorted as these words slammed into her. “I love you Sparky please be alright!” Was the last thing she heard.

Nikolas continued to hold Gia as Sonny called for an ambulance. He had been saying her name for several minutes with no answer. Tears fell from his eyes and he brushed his hand over his face to wipe them away. He could hear the faint sound of sirens down on the street. It panicked him that she still had not opened her eyes. He looked up to heaven for strength. “Gia? Gia please open your eyes baby, come on can you hear me?” He begged. He started to sob when she still was not waking up. Nikolas looked up when the paramedics rushed in. He felt robbed when they took her out of his arms, and placed her on the stretcher. He was instantly at her side. “Gia please wake up, I love you so much.” He leaned down towards her. Slowly her lids began to flutter open. His heart was pounding as she parted her lips. He moved closer to her. She mumbled something that he couldn’t understand. He shook his head in confusion. “You’re OK Gia, you’re going to be OK.” He reassured her. Someone started to move the stretcher and Nikolas fallowed them. A man in a uniform grabbed him and pulled him away. “Look you’re going to need to sit in front.” He said calmly. Nikolas shook his head in anger. “No! I have to stay with her, get away from me. She’s trying to say something.” Nik said desperately. “I really don’t care right now, she needs to go to the hospital and you need to let us take her.” He said. “Please I’m here fiancé.” Nik pleaded. “Only immediate family can ride with her, you’re lucky I’m letting you ride in the front.” He said angrily. “What do you mean, that’s not immediate family?” Nik demanded. The man raised a warning eyebrow. “I don’t want to ride in front.” Nik mumbled. The man stepped up to him. “God fine!” Nik yelled. He rushed back over to Gia. “I love you Sparky please be alright!” He yelled before they shut the door.

Nikolas sat in an uncomfortable hospital chair and rested his head in his hands. He couldn’t believe all of this. That the whole time Gia was gone, she was being held like a prisoner by Zander. Fresh tears began to roll down his cheeks and his heart ached with guilt. His cell phone rang and he quickly picked it up and put it to his ear. “Hello.” He said breathlessly. “Nikolas its Sonny. I was about to get rid of him but I thought that you might like to say something to him first.” He said into the phone. “You bet I do. Put him on.” Nik said. A few seconds later he could hear Zander’s heavy breathing in his ear. “Zander I warned you to stay away from Gia. I told you I would kill you if you ever came near her again. Well I would if I wasn’t in the hospital waiting to see her. I guess Sonny’s going to have to take care of you. But you will see what happens when you mess with someone I love Zander.” Nik said, his voice seething. “Fuck you Nikolas!” Zander yelled. Nik heard him scream in pain. “I’ll take care of it Nikolas. Zander is going pay for this. Give Gia a hug for me when she wakes up. I’ll be there as soon as I can.” Sonny said. “Thanks.” Nik mumbled before he hung up the phone. Nikolas looked up when Tony Jones walked up to him.

“Nikolas, I would like to talk to you about Gia.” Tony said. Nikolas smiled softly as he stood up to talk with him. He was glad that Gia was being taken care of by someone that he knew. “Yes Tony, please tell me. I need to know if she’s alright.” Nik said. “Yes actually, she’s doing great. Gia suffered from a concussion, someone must have hit her head or it was slammed against something. Anyway, it is minor and I expect that she will be waking up very soon. She also was very dehydrated and malnourished when she was brought in but we are treating her for that through IV’s.” Tony explained. “Can I go in and see her?” Nik asked. “It would be encouraged. I think she should have someone she knows with her when she wakes up. She might be a little lightheaded and confused.” Tony said. Nikolas nodded. “Thank you doctor.” Nik said before he headed for Gia’s room.
