CH 45
Nikolas stormed into Wyndemere, he
was crying freely and breathing hard. He made his way to the den and poured
himself a drink. Tilting his head back and gulping it down quickly, the burn of
the alcohol entering his body served as a temporary relief to his pain. He sat
down on the couch and held his head in his hands. Gia lied to him. He didn’t
understand how she could lie to him. She knew how important honesty was to him,
and for her to break his trust made him even more fearful that Liz was right.
Nikolas began to cry out loud again, he got up and walked over to the wall and
punched it with all his might. “This is all your fault Zander!” He cried out
as the pain ran all the way up his arm. Anger began to fill his veins even more
as he felt the pain in his hand and he went to work breaking things. Furniture,
artwork, vases, anything he could get his hands on, he destroyed. His hand
blindly landed on a framed picture, and without a second thought, he threw it.
He could hear the glass shatter as it landed face down on the ground. He walked
over and turned it around. Gia’s distorted image peaked through the broken
glass. Nikolas’ chin trembled as he removed the back, and pulled the print out
with shaky hands. Tears rolled down his cheeks as he looked at Gia’s smiling
face. “She must have pretended to be over Zander because they are still in
love.” Elizabeth’s words echoed through his head. He shook his head
sadly. “No, she loves me.” Nik told himself. Fear began to fill his being
when he said this out loud. A sinking feeling entered him. “What if she
doesn’t really love me?” Nik whispered.
A blurry light peaked through her
half closed lids; and she blinked rapidly to clear her vision. Her eyes darted
around rapidly as her mind raced, desperate to form some kind of conscious
thought. Where am I? Was the first thing she thought. The room she was in was
not familiar to her. She was looking at a gaudy picture hanging on a green wall
in front of her. She slowly started to sit up, but she cried out in pain, her
head was killing her so she lay back down and her eyes clamped shut again. She
had fallen back to sleep. She was awakened again when she became aware of a
presence in the room. She opened her eyes. If she had had the strength to
scream, she would have. Zander’s eyes bore into hers as he leaned in close to
her face. “Well good morning angel. Do you know that you’ve been asleep all
night?” Zander asked. Gia frowned. “Zander. What the hell did you do? Why am
I here?” Gia questioned. She tried to sit up again, but the throbbing from
before returned. “Hey don’t move OK?” Zander said, brining his hand out.
Gia wished she had the strength to push his hand away that he was running along
her braids but she didn’t. “Stop.” She said softly, and surprisingly he
did. “Answer my question Zander, why am I here?” Gia asked again.
“You’re here because you wouldn’t listen to me the other day. I’m not
over you.” Zander said. “So you hit me over the head and kidnap me?” Gia
exclaimed, she regretted her outburst and held her pounding head in her hands.
Zander noticed her pain but ignored it. “I did what I had to do.” He
shrugged. “Well you need to let me go. Nikolas and I got into a fight and I
need to go to him.” Gia said. Zander shook his head. “No Gia. You don’t
get it. I love you and I’m not letting you go.” Zander said. Gia suddenly
began to really panic as she looked into his eyes, this was not the Zander she
knew. She watched him stand up and move over to his desk, he pulled out a pair
of handcuffs. He walked up to her and grabbed her hands. “What are you
doing?” She breathed. “You can’t leave, this is the only way I can keep
you here.” Zander said. “No.” She said as she tried to move her hands
away. Zander won the battle and handcuffed her to the bed. “I’ll be back my
love, think about what I said.” Zander said. Gia put her head back down on the
pillow under her. Tears rolled down her cheeks. She was so scared. “Nikolas, I
need you.” She whispered, before clamping her eyes shut again.
Nikolas’ eyes shot open, a
sudden jolt in his heart had struck him, and an overwhelming presence of Gia
consumed him. She needs me, he thought. He sat up and looked around. He had
fallen asleep on the floor, amongst the destroyed remains of his belongings. He
looked down to see Gia’s picture under him. A sinking feeling invaded him. He
got up, slowly walking around the room, his hand throbbing as he trudged through
the aftermath of his tantrum from the night before. He stepped out of the den
and wandered around the empty castle. Memories of the night before came flooding
back to him, and it finally hit him. He had left her there, with no car to get
home. “Gia?” He hollered, hoping she had somehow found her way home. He
searched the house and there was no sign of her. Despite the fact that he felt
angry and sick when he thought about Gia and last night, he was starting to
worry about her. He walked over to the phone and dialed Lucky’s number. “Hey
Lucky, it’s Nikolas.” He said into the phone. “Hey I was going to call
you. Gia left her purse last night. I didn’t want to call because I figured
you two were busy working things out.” Lucky said. Nikolas’ heart began to
pound. “Gia left her purse. Where did she go?” He asked. “What do you mean
where did she go? She went home with you.” Lucky said, confused as hell.
“Lucky she didn’t come home with me.” Nik said. “Well she never came
back in after she went chasing after you. I figured that she must have left with
you. Look I want to apologize for Elizabeth. She had no right to mettle in you
and Gia’s business. I’m sure that it’s like Gia said and it wasn’t what
it looked like.” Lucky said. Nikolas didn’t quite hear him. “Lucky she’s
not here! Where did she go?” Nikolas shouted. “Nikolas calm down. I’m sure
she’s somewhere safe. Maybe she’s with Sonny?” Lucky pointed out. Nikolas
nodded his head. “Yeah maybe.” He mumbled, hanging up the phone. Not
bothering to say goodbye to his brother. He
rushed to change his clothes and ran out of the house and headed for Sonny’s.
Sonny walked downstairs in a
hurry. “Who is it Johnny?” He asked in annoyance. “It’s Nikolas
Cassadine sir he says..” Nikolas shoved his way in. “Sonny please just give
me a straight answer and tell me the truth. Is Gia here?” Nik asked. Sonny
shook his head. “No Nikolas I haven’t seen her in weeks.” Sonny said.
Nikolas sighed as he looked away from Sonny. “What happened?” Sonny asked.
Nik looked up at him. “We got into a fight last night and I left her at the
club. I haven’t seen her since.” Nik said. “Well maybe she took a drive to
cool off or something? I’m sure she’ll be back soon.” Sonny said. Nikolas
shook his head. “No that’s the thing. She didn’t have a car to get home
and I called Lucky and he said that she never came back into the club after I
left.” Nik said. Sonny looked at him sharply. “So you left Gia with no way
to get home? And you said that this was at night?” Sonny asked. Nikolas looked
down. “Yes it was at night and it was raining. She was calling for me but I
ignored her.” Nik said guiltily. “Well that’s great Nikolas.” Sonny
said. “Look I know I messed up, but I need your help. If anything happens to
her I would never forgive myself. Please Sonny, will you help?” Nikolas asked
desperately. “I love Gia like a sister, of course I’ll look for her. You
have my word.” Sonny nodded. “Thank you.” Nik said softly.
