CH 27

“Nikolas, how are we ever going to get married though?” Gia asked Nik, as they lay, body’s intertwined with a sheet wrapped around them on the floor.

“I don’t know but we’ll find a way, you’ll see.” Nik said as the tips of his fingers lightly ran up and down her bare arm.

“So I have my brother to thank for this surprise?” Nik asked.

“Yeah, your brother is adorable!” Gia said smiling.

“Hey!” Nik playfully squeezed her.

“Oh Nikki you don’t have to worry. Your brothers cute but he’s a bit of a goof.” Gia said. The both bust out laughing.

“Yeah he can be a bit of a nut sometimes but he’s family and I love him.” Nik said.

“Speaking of family, Nikolas my family will kill me if they find out that we are together, let alone engaged.” Gia said.

“I know, so will mine. I never thought that I would feel this way about anyone in your family in a hundred years. Hey maybe we can run away?” Nik said. Gia shook her head slowly.

“Nikolas, I love my family. I can’t run away from them. Juan is my best friend and I couldn’t leave him.” Gia said.

She felt Nik cringe beneath her and sat up to look at him.

“Nikolas I know that you were raised to hate my cousin but you have to understand that we were raised to hate you too.” Gia said. Nik looked down sadly.

“But, that was before I knew what a wonderful man you are.” Gia said.

“I wish I would have met you when I was a kid. I knew that you came to my house once but I was told to stay upstairs.” Nik said.

“I know I was there that day. I saw you though.” Gia said.

Nik looked up at her in shock, not believing his ears. Gia smiled at him and nodded reassuringly.

“Yeah, I came up to see you when you were in your room. I was told that you were a monster and to stay away from you but I just had to see for myself.” Gia said.

“So you saw me and what did you think?” Nik asked.

“This is going to sound weird but I felt like I met the boy I was going to marry. You were very engrossed in your book so I knew you were smart. You didn’t look like any boy had ever seen. I just had this feeling like I was meant to see you that night.” Gia said.

Nik’s eyes were lined with tears and his chest rose to hear her say these words.

“You know, I’ve never told anyone about this but that night at the party when I was reading. All of the sodden I felt this powerful feeling that caused me to look up from my book. When I looked up I could have sworn I saw a beautiful girl about my age. But when I ran to the door, I didn’t see anyone so I thought I was seeing things.” Nik said.

“It was you Gia.” Nik whispered hugging her.

Nik and Gia lay on the floor in silence as they held onto each other.

“I better get dressed. I can’t believe it’s as late at it is. Lucky should be here soon.” Gia said moving to get up. Nik shook his head and wrapped her up tighter.

“I don’t think so.” He whispered in her ear and then stuck his tongue in. Gia’s eyes fluttered and a smile spread across her face.

“Nikolas you know if your brother finds me in his room naked he’ll pass out cold.” Gia teased. Nik laughed and squeezed her one more time before reluctantly loosening his grip. Gia got up and gathered her clothed up while Nik enjoyed the view. She smirked when she turned around and saw him staring.

“See something you like?” She asked chocking her eyebrow.

“Everything.” Nik said grinning.

Gia bent down and kissed him before running to the bathroom to get dressed before Lucky came home. Nik raised himself from the hardwood floor and wrapped in a sheet, went in search for some clothes. He found a pair of jeans and slipped them on. Soon after he put the sheet in the laundry room, he heard a knock at the door. He went to go open it and let Lucky in.

“It feels weird having to knock on my own door.” Lucky said stepping in. He looked around the room.

“Did you stay off the bed? Please tell me you did.” Lucky interrogated. Nikolas laughed at his brother and glanced at the floor. Lucky put his hands up.

“Whoa, I don’t want to know!” Lucky exclaimed. They both looked up to see Gia come out of the bathroom. She walked over to Nik’s side and he slid his arm around her.

“Hey Lucky.” Gia said smiling.

“Hey Gia.” Lucky said smiling back.

“Thank you so much for letting us hang out in your apartment, it was so sweet of you.” Gia said, walking up to him and leaning in to kiss his cheek. Lucky blushed and ran his hand through his hair.

“Oh hey no problem, anytime Gia.” Lucky said shyly as he looked at the ground. Gia smiled at his shyness and turned to Nik.

“I have to go.” She said softly. She could see the sadness in his eyes. He pulled her in for a long hug.

“I’ll miss you so much Sparky.” Nik said looking her in the eyes.

“I’ll miss you too my Prince.” Gia said as she leaned in for a soft kiss.

“I’ll find a way to get you two together again. I promise.” Lucky said to Gia who smiled at him gratefully.

Gia walked to the door, stopping to put on her “disguise”. She smiled weekly at Nikolas before opening the door and slipping out.
