~Epilogue~

A year to the day of her cousin’s death, Gia and her husband stepped out of the plain at the Port Charles airport. Gia hadn’t been in this town since the day she left, disowning her family. She did keep tabs on them however, and she knew that Sonny was not the same as he use to be, since her absence, he had been..lost. She had heard that right after her disappearance, Sonny went after Stovros, intending on killing him. But both men decided that out of respect for the loved ones that they had lost, they would not continue with the war they had created between the families. Gia and Nikolas talked to Lucky once a week and so they knew what was happening at home. When the anniversary of her cousin’s death came around, Gia decided that she wanted to come and see Sonny. She had spent most of her time away, hating him. But she was at a place in her life where family was important to her and she needed to try and mend things. “Are you ready Sparky?” Nik asked as he squeezed Gia’s hand. “Yeah I think I am.” Gia said smiling over at Nikolas. She kissed him and bent over to grab her carrier, picking up the heavy load.

Sonny sat alone in his penthouse, his life was not the same as it was a year ago. His family was destroyed. He stood up and walked over to the shelf in the corner of his lonely penthouse. He picked up a picture of Gia and touched her face. “Where are you baby girl?” He asked softly. Since her disappearance last year, Sonny had been an emotional wreck. He lost his brother, and the little girl he loved and helped raise. If only he would have listened to her. To get past the loss of his uncle and forgive the man she loved. Tears made their way down his face as he gazed at the picture. There was a knock at the door and he heard Johnny go to get it. “Tell them no visitors today.” He ordered. He heard Johnny agree and was surprised when he felt a tap on his shoulder. “Johnny I said..” Sonny’s words were lost as he turned around and saw Gia standing behind him. “Gia.” He said tearfully as he instantly pulled her in for a hug. Sonny held her for what seemed like a lifetime, relieved to see her in one piece.

“Gia, I’m so sorry.” Sonny said as he pulled away.

“Do you really mean that Sonny? Because I would really love for you to be a part of me and my husbands life.” Gia said.

“Anything Gia, where is he? Please I want to talk to him.” Sonny said. Gia smiled and gave Johnny a look. He nodded and walked out, coming back with Nikolas in tow. Sonny was shocked at what Nikolas was holding.

“Sonny, I want you to meet your second cousin, Juan Michel Cassadine.” Nik said presenting his three-month-old son to Sonny. Sonny looked at the baby Nikolas was holding. He saw so many people in his bright eyes. His uncle, his brother, his cousin, even his sworn enemy’s. He slowly walked up to Nikolas.

“May I?” Sonny asked as he held his arms out. Nikolas passed along the smiling baby boy to Sonny. Tears were in Sonny’s eyes as he held Gia’s baby in his arms. With one hand holding the baby, Sonny held his other hand out to Nikolas.

“Nikolas, welcome to the family.” He said giving him a genuine smile.

“Thank you.” Nik said clasping his hand in Sonny’s. Gia had tears in her eyes as she watched the two men she loved more then anything shake hands.

~Later that evening~

Gia sat at the dinner table and looked around the room, with her favorite meal in front of her. She was lucky that she came home on a Friday. It was just like old times. But yet it was very different, for one thing she was a mother now, she looked over and saw her mother bonding with her first grandchild and smiled at the sight of them. She continued to look around the table, there were extra people sitting around it. Lucky and Courtney, Stefan, Alexis and Stovros. Of coarse her family was there as well, Sonny, Mike, Marcus and her mother. It was uncomfortable at first but things seemed to be going well now. She planed on visiting Zander the next day. She was angry at him at first, but she realized that he had lost his best friend too and she just couldn’t hate him. She thought about Juan, he should be here right now. Nikolas instinctively grabbed Gia’s hand and held it. “Are you OK?” He asked quietly. Gia nodded her head sadly. “I’m just so sorry that Juan can’t be here to see this.” Gia said sadly. Nikolas gently rubbed her shoulder as he watched his wife fight back tears. He leaned in and kissed her cheek, and then began to whisper in her ear. “Look around you Gia, we started out in a family war but we came through. You’re cousin had to die fighting it but it’s over now. We’ll live happily ever after. Cassadine and Corinthos. There’s no hate to those names anymore, only love and it’s all because of us. Because of our love for each other and our fight to be together.” Nik said tilting her head so that he was looking into her eyes. Gia smiled and leaned in and kissed him softly on the lips, she stroked his hair when they pulled apart. “And it looks like we’re not the only ones.” Nik said gesturing to Sonny and Alexis who were visibly flirting with each other. Gia laughed as she looked over at her cousin, she had never seen her this way. She looked back at her husband and tenderly touched his face. “I love you Nikolas Cassadine.” She said simply. Her right hand dropped down to toy with the ring on her left hand. “I love you too, Princess Gia Cassadine.” Nik said smiling. They held hands as they listened to their family’s talking to each other respectfully.
