CH 25
Gia sat in an uncomfortable chair in the
waiting room of the doctor’s office. She looked over at the clock. She had
five minutes until she had to go in to have her first Ultrasound. She wondered
if Nikolas remembered about her appointment. The words that Casey said to her
were still playing over and over again in her head. Her heart ached at the
thought of Nik not wanting her around. But she remembered a day not too long ago
when he told her to go away, she ended up pouting upstairs. That was the day
that she and Lucky started to be good friends. The door to the office opened and
Gia lifted her head. Her heart ached at the fact that there was a very pregnant
woman in the doorway and not Nikolas. He doesn’t even care enough to come, Gia
thought sadly.
Nikolas pulled up to GH, he looked at his watch and he only had five minutes to
get inside to Gia. He had considered not coming at all, as the events of the day
before still hurt him deeply. He thought that maybe she would want to be here
with Lucky rather then him, since she wasn’t in love with him any more. But he
thought about it and the fact was that Gia would never have invited him if she
didn’t want him to come. And plus he wanted more then anything to be here. Nik
rushed through the doors of GH and quickly asked Bobby for the directions to
Gia’s appointment. She quickly gave them to him and he headed for the
elevator. He ran all the way to the door but slowed down when he reached it, he
slowly opened the door and peered inside. Gia was sitting in a chair with her
head down He realized that she didn’t even know that the door was opened. She
looked so sad sitting there, Nik just wanted to wrap his arms around her and
hold her, soothing her pain away.
When Gia finally looked up, her relief was clearly revealed on her face as a shy
smile spread across it. Nik’s heart flushed at the sight of her smile. “Hi
Sparky.” Nik said smiling and walking over to her. The nurse at the desk
interrupted them by telling Gia that the Dr. would be late and that she would
have to wait a little while longer to see her. Gia nodded and Nik sat down in
the chair next to her.
“I thought you forgot.” Gia said looking at the ground. “I wouldn’t
forget Gia, I want to be here.” Nik said. “Well, I thought maybe you
didn’t want to come because you would have to see me.” Gia said, still not
looking at him. Nik’s heart sank at her words. “Gia look at me.” Nik said
bringing his hand under her chin and gently forcing her to look him in the eyes.
“Why would you think that I wouldn’t want to see you?” He asked. Tears
lightly rimmed Gia’s eyes as she looked down briefly, blinking them away and
then looking back up at him. “Well Casey told me what you said to him at the
party.” Gia said. Nik had a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach.
“Casey? What did he say to you?” Nik asked afraid of the answer. “He said
that you didn’t want me around. And that you hated how I got in the way all
the time.” Gia said unable to hold back the tears that were now streaming down
her face. It broke Nik’s heart to see her so sad, he looked down and took a
deep breath. “Gia, I did say those things.” Nik admitted. A small moan
escaped Gia’s mouth as she turned away from him. She started to get up and
leave but Nik grabbed her and brought her back down to her chair. “Gia please
listen to me.” Nik said looking her in the eyes. Gia nodded sadly, wanting for
him to say something that would make it all better. “Gia I said those things
because I was scared. You see, I’ve been having these dreams, and you’re in
them. They scare the hell out of me and I was afraid to tell you. I’m sorry
Gia but I just couldn’t tell you about it.” Nik said. “So you couldn’t
even tell your wife about some dream you were having? What does that tell you
about our relationship?” Gia asked. “You don’t understand. They are really
deep and dark and I was afraid of what you would think of me. I’m talking
about it in my sessions with Drew but it’s going to take some time.” Nik
said. Gia searched his eyes and knew he was being honest. “But Nikolas, why
would you say those things to Casey?” Gia asked. “At the time those dreams
were so intense and so real that it was hard to be around you. I thought that if
I pushed you away enough, that you would find a friend in Lucky and you
wouldn’t be hurting so badly. It was just easier for me to tell myself that
you were in the way and that that’s why I needed space from you.” Nik said.
“I’m sorry Gia.” Nik said. “Nikolas, I need some time to think about
this.” Gia said turning away from him.
They were quiet for a while, both lost in their own thoughts. Nik was frustrated
at Gia’s silence, his thoughts drifted back to what Casey said to him the
other day, about how Gia and his brother were together now. “So, how are
things going with you and my brother?” Nik asked coldly, breaking the silence.
It was something he had wanted to ask to her about but was afraid to hear the
truth. It would kill him to hear that she and his brother were happy together.
Gia was confused. “What do you mean?” She asked. “Well, I heard that you
guys are together now.” Nik said. Gia was in shock. “Why would you think
that?” Gia questioned. “Well Casey said that he saw you two kissing at
Luke’s the other night.” Nik said. “What? Nikolas you can’t tell me that
you believe him! I’ve told you before that we are not together!” Gia said
raising her voice.
Before Nik had a chance to say anything, the nurse informed them that the Dr.
was ready to see Gia now. She nodded in reply to the nurse and stood up, she
turned around and looked at Nikolas. “I don’t think I want you to come with
me anymore. Why don’t you go home?” Gia said. She was so mad that Nik would
take someone else’s word over hers. Nik felt panic slowly setting in to his
body. “Gia please, I really want to go with you. Oh god please Gia, I’ll do
anything.” Nik said on the verge of tears. Gia thought about it for a moment.
She looked at Nikolas and could see how desperate he looked. She didn’t want
to deny him the chance to see his baby for the first time. “OK, you can come
but this discussion is not over. We need to talk about this.” Gia said. Nik
nodded his head. “OK.” Nik said with relief. The nurse told Gia that she
needed to go in and get ready and then they would let Nik in. Nik watched as Gia
walked up to the nurse and disappeared through the door to go get ready for her
Ultrasound.

Lucky walked through the doors of an extravagant looking office building; he
walked briskly up to the front desk, announcing his arrival to the pretty girl
behind the desk. He had called Casey the day before and pretended to be a client
and made an appointment to see him. “Mr. Jackson is expecting you, you can go
right in.” Said the secretary. “Thank you.” Lucky said politely, flashing
her a brilliant smile that caused her to blush.
“We need to talk.” Lucky said stepping into the office and closing the door
behind him. Casey looked up at Lucky and was surprisingly calm and collective.
He smiled at the blond man before him. “What about, Spencer?” He said in a
cocky tone. “I think you already know the answer to that.” Lucky said moving
closer to the desk that was between them. “Is this about your stupid brother
who doesn’t see what’s going on between you and his wife?” Casey asked.
“You son of a bitch!” Lucky yelled. “You know that she pregnant right?”
Lucky asked. Casey looked momentarily shocked but quickly recovered. “Hey, I
wouldn’t mind that. If it means being with Gia I could raise your brothers
bastard son.” Casey said smugly. In one swift motion Lucky lunged across the
desk and his fist instantly connected to Casey’s jaw. Casey went flying to the
floor and Lucky jumped over the deck and jumped on top of him. “You stay the
hell away from Gia and Nikolas or I will hunt you down and kill you with my bare
hands!” Lucky yelled as his hands violently clutched onto Casey’s shirt.
Casey desperately nodded his head in agreement, eager to get this guy off of
him. Lucky’s fists came crashing down for one more blow to Casey’s face
before getting up off of him. Lucky stood up and then turned around and calmly
walked out of the office.

“OK Gia, this is going to feel cold on your stomach.” Dr. Calvin said as she
put the cool jell on Gia’s stomach. Gia lightly winched at the feel of the
cold substance on her warm skin.
Nik was sitting in a chair to the side of them, trying to stay out of the way.
He watched them intently. “Is that going to hurt her?” Nik asked with
concern when the Dr. held the instrument in her hand and was about to place it
on Gia’s stomach. The Dr. looked at him and smiled. “No not at all. Would
you like to come closer so that you can see better?” She asked. Nik looked at
Gia who nodded her head, giving him the permission he felt he needed from her.
Nik brought his chair up close to Gia and was shocked when she held her hand out
to him. He happily took it and they held hands while the Dr. ran her instrument
over the Gia’s barely bulging stomach.
“There you go. That’s the first picture of your baby!” The Dr. said
pointed to the screen. “That’s it?” Gia asked. “It’s so small.” Nik
said his arm naturally wrapped around Gia’s back as he leaned in closer to see
it. “Oh god Gia, that’s our baby.” Nik said as tears streamed down his
face. Gia looked at him and was touched by his emotion. Tears were falling down
her own face as she smiled at him. Nik smiled back and kissed the side of
Gia’s face. Gia leaned in and let Nik place feather light kisses on neck and
face. “I love you Nikolas.” Gia whispered. “Oh I love you too Sparky.”
Nik said, his voice heavy with emotion.
