CH 7
Nikolas was annoyed when
his cell phone rang. He was right in the middle of talking to Mr. Jackson. He
was trying to convince him to invest in Cassadine Industries. His money would be
very good for the businesses. “Excuse me Mr. Jackson, this should only take a
second.” Leaving the room Nik was annoyed to say the least. He tolled his
entire staff not to interrupt and was very mad that they had.
“Cassadine!!” Nik barked into the
phone.
Kristina: “Nikolas?” “Is that you?”
Nik: “Kristina?” “Look Kristina I’m in a very important meeting right
now.”
Kristina: Look Nikolas sorry to interrupt but I need to talk to you about Gia”
Nik: “What? Look Kristina, this will have to wait.”
Kristina: “Look Nikolas it’s very important.”
Nik: “I’m sorry Kristina but it will have to wait, I’ll be home later
tonight, I’ll call you.”
Kristina: “Nik….”
“Did you call him?” Lucky asked walking
up to Kristina. “I tried but he wouldn’t listen.” Kristina said, shaking
her head in disbelief. “And now his cell phone is off.” Kristina said. “He
said what?” Lucky said, his voice rising. “He said he didn’t have time and
that he would call me later” Kristina said. “Did you tell him it was about
Gia?” Lucky asked. “Yes and that it was important” Kristina nodded. “I
can’t believe this!!” Lucky, slammed his fist on the table next to him.
Lucky and Kristina were waiting in the
waiting room for news about Gia. “Hey how is she?” Lucky asked when Dr.
Jones came in the room. “She’s fine Lucky, she lost a lot of blood but
she’ll be OK” “She was a bit light headed when she first woke up but
that’s normal” “We think that the scarring will be minimal so she’s
still be able to wear great clothes”, Tony said with a smile. “Can we go in
and see her?” Kristina asked. “Sure” Tony said. “She should be able to
leave in the morning, we just want to make sure everything’s OK before we send
her home so we’ll keep her overnight” “OK thanks, Tony.” Lucky said
shaking his hand. “Your very welcome, she’s in room 102, you can go right
in” Tony said and then walked away.
“Gia?” Lucky said, opening the door.
“Hey you!” Gia smiled at Lucky when he entered the room. Kristina had let
him go see Gia first, she needed to call Alexis and let her know what was going
on anyway. Gia had bandages on her wrists and hands, her arm was wrapped up and
there were little cuts in various plaices on her face and body. Beside from all
the bandages she looked great. She was sitting up and drinking orange juice when
Lucky came in. “How do you feel?” Lucky asked as he sat on the bed next to
her. “OK I guess, I’m really tiered though, it’s been a long day she said
with a week smile. “Yeah I guess so,” Lucky said. “Hey is Nik still on his
way or something?” Gia asked. “Umm Gia, look I didn’t want to tell you
this but we tried calling him but he cut us off” Lucky said. “Oh” Gia said
looking down. Lucky thought she was going to cry but blinked her tears away.
“You said we?” “Who else is here?” Gia asked. “Oh it’s me and
Kristina” Lucky said. “We tried to call your mom but we couldn’t locate
her, Bobbie overheard us and said that she went away to a conference in
Sacramento this week” Lucky tolled Gia. “Yeah she’ll be back on Monday”
Gia said, nodding her head. “Hey you, you look great!” Kristina said when
she entered the room. “Thanks!” Gia said, smiling at her friend. “So
Nikolas is too busy to come see me?” Gia asked. “Gia sweetie, I wasn’t
able to get much out other than that I wanted to talk to him about you and that
it was important.” “I’m sure if I would have just blurted it out instead
of just rambling on like I do, he would have come right away.” Kristina tolled
Gia, trying to reassure her. “Yeah right” Gia said, leaning her head back as
tears started to run down her face.
Nikolas was in his car headed home; finally
he was able to go home. He was glad to hear that Mr. Jackson was just having a
few doubts about things and Nik was able to coax him into trusting him again.
Finally the guy signed. Nik was in a good mood; he’d been so stressed out
about this it was such a relief to be done with it. When Nikolas got of the
launch he had forgotten that he had given most of the staff the night off.
Preparing to have to apologize to Gia, Nik knew that it would be hard. He was so
mean to her today. Taking a deep breath Nikolas swung the door opened. Not use
to not having someone there to greet him, Nik felt awkward. Nik was surprised at
how dark it was inside. There were no lights on except for the hall light
upstairs; suddenly feeling uneasy Nik ran upstairs. “Gia?” He yelled running
down the hall. When he reached the master bedroom Nik saw that the lights were
on in there too. Running into the room Nik stopped dead at was he saw. Things
were thrashed all over the room, pictures knocked down, vases broken. But what
made Nik’s blood run cold was the pool of blood on the floor. “GIA!!” Nik
screamed, tears streaming down his face as he franticly ran around the room.
Looking in the bathroom and in the closet he saw no sign of her. “GGIIAAA!!!
Nik sobbed and screamed her name. His mind raced and then he suddenly remembered
Kristina’s call. Running down stairs he went to grab his keys and go. There
was a pounding at the door and Nik ran to go get it. “Alexis!” Nik said when
he opened the door. “Nikolas we’ve been trying to call” “It’s Gia
isn’t it?” Nik asked, already knowing the answer. “Nikolas she’s OK”
“Where is she?” Nik asked. “She’s at General Hospital, let’s go I’ll
drive you” Nik nodded and they both dashed out of the room.
Lucky looked up when he heard the door to
Gia’s room being open, seeing that it was his brother. He quickly looked at
Gia who was asleep, looking so peaceful. Getting up off of the chair by Gia’s
bed, Lucky walked over to him. Before Nik could say or do anything he was pushed
out of the room. Falling to the ground Nik looked up at his brother in shock.
“Lucky, what the fuck?” Nik said getting up from the floor. “What the fuck?
What the fuck?!!” Lucky yelled. “No I want to know what the fuck was so
important that you couldn’t come see your wife before she practically bled to
death!!” Lucky roared at his brother. “Lucky I….” Nik started, looking
down ashamed at his excuse. “It was businesses, really important business.”
Nik said. “Yeah well thanks to you I’ll never get the vision of my friend
and your wife, half naked, bleeding and begging for help out of my head for as
long as I live” Lucky said, emotion seeping through his voice. Nikolas was in
tears. “Lucky I’m sorry, I don’t know what to say.” “I’m just so
sorry.” Nik said, not looking his brother in the eye. “I, I have to go see
Gia” Nik said walking toward the door. “I don’t think so.” Lucky said,
moving in front of him. “Move Lucky” Nik said trying to get passed. “No I
won’t let you hurt her again.” Pushing Nik back. “Lucky let me in there
right now!” Nik yelled. “No!!” Lucky said placing his hands on Nik’s
coat, grabbing to push him back. Nik swung him around and knocked him down.
Running into the room, Nik locked the door behind him.
