Prologue

Gia slowly opened her eyes and they began to focus on the form in front of her. She smiled groggily at the attractive mans sleeping face. Love began to sink into her body, the love that she had for him. She knew him so well and he knew her better than anyone in the word did, even her family. She leaned in and lightly kissed his soft lips. His eyes fluttered open and she watched as a smile slowly creped across his face. “Hey you.” He said sleepily. “How are you feeling?” He asked gently. “Better.” Gia said sadly. “I’m sorry Gia.” He said lightly caressing her cheek with his hand. Gia looked down and tried to push her tears back but failed as they slipped down her face. Tears now flowed from his eyes as well. “I’m sorry about your mom Gia.” He said pulling her in for a hug. Gia sobbed into his chest. Her mom Flo had died of a heart attack just days ago. She still hadn’t had time to truly greave for the loss of her.

Gia sat up in bed and looked over at Seth, his dark hair and skin and his deep blue eyes. She loved him so much. She didn’t know if she could get through this without him. They had been through so much together. Being a gay man in Brooklyn was tough at public school. Gia helped Seth get through that time and in return he helped her get through the absence of her father, and the numerous failed relationships of her mothers. They were quite the opposite in personality. Seth was for the most part, shy and quiet. But he did know how to have fun; Gia wouldn’t love him so much if he were dull. Seth thought Gia was crazy, loud and boisterous. He spent most of his time keeping her out of trouble, and the girl was always getting into trouble. But together they just worked. They were best friends. Hell, he even decided to move with her, that’s how close they were. Now that her mom was gone, Gia decided that it would be best for her to move closer to her brother Taggert. He was her only family now. She had a lot of resentment towards her brother. When he left to become a cop, she felt betrayed. He left in the middle of the most difficult time for Gia. Her mother was in the worst relationship yet. Taggert left her with no one to protect her. So things were not going to be easy between her and her brother. It was a good thing that she would have her best friend there to help her get through it.

“Are you all ready to go?” Seth asked Gia as he sat up in bed. “Yeah I think so, I just have a couple of small things to grab.” Gia said. They had spent the last two days packing for the move. “Hey why don’t we look at this map again, just to make sure we know where we’re going?” Gia suggested. “Sure since I know how bad you are with directions.” Seth said sitting on the bed next to her. Gia reached for a pillow and hit him over the head with it. They laughed as Seth went to block it with his arm, grabbing it out of her hand and throwing it off the bed. “So Port Charles huh?” Seth said looking at the map. “Yep, looks pretty boring to me, even the name is boring.” Gia said sighing. Maybe that’s what you need?” Seth suggested. “No way, I’ll never have a boring life.” Gia said making a face. “I know G, you’re just a wild girl at heart.” Seth said. “Well Gia Campbell, ready to meet the real word?” Seth said smiling. “Ready when you are baby!” Gia said giving her friend a hug.

“Good lord Gia what do you have in here?” Seth asked as he picked up Gia’s last bag and headed for the door. They were packed and ready to go. “You know just the bare essentials, CD player, snacks, books, all the good stuff!” Gia said laughing. “Besides, you have one just as heavy filled with all your hair crap!” Gia teased. Seth laughed at her and nodded his head in surrender and brought his hand out for her to take. “Lets go G.” He said with a smile. Gia turned around and looked one last time at the apartment she and her mom had lived in her whole life. Her eyes lightly rimmed with tears as she nodded her head sadly and took Seth’s hand. They walked out and headed for the car, heading into an unknown future.
