CH 26
“Hey Ned, you said to come by. OK the flyers for Jamal aren’t done yet but I know what I want on them. It’s just that I want them to be unique you know? Something that people haven’t seen before.” Gia rambled. “Whoa Gia, slow down, look I didn’t call you about Jamal. I called regarding your career.” Ned interrupted her. “My career.” Gia repeated, her mind racing. “Oh god, you’re going to fire me. Oh Ned I really need this job. I thought I was doing a pretty good job!” Gia exclaimed. Ned had to hold in his laughter. “No no Gia I’m not going to fire you! It’s about your music career.” Ned said. “What music career?” Gia asked. Now Ned laughed. “Well you don’t have one yet but I thought that the whole reason for you working here was to become a famous singer?” Ned laughed. Gia just looked at him. “You want to talk about making me a singer?” She asked. Ned nodded his head. Gia jumped into his arms. “Oh my god, OK come on, lets go in the conference room.” Gia said pulling his arm. Ned laughed. “OK yeah lets go Gia.” He said.
Nikolas finally had time to get some studying done with Gia at L&B. Although he did wonder what Ned would want with Gia and not him. He thought that they were supposed to be working together on this project with Jamal. Nik walked over to the couch and sat down, grateful to get his project for school done, he now had some time to himself. He flipped on the TV, but didn’t see anything that interested him so he turned it off. He sighed. He hadn’t realized how boring his life was before Gia and Seth came into it. The doorbell rang and Nikolas went to go answer it, grateful that he would have someone to talk to, even if it was a stranger. “Lucky, come on in man.” He said as he opened the door for him. “Hey Nikolas, are you busy?” Lucky asked. “No, not at all come on and sit down.” Nik said walking to his couch with Lucky fallowing. Lucky smiled at his brother as he looked at him. “What?” Nik asked. “Gia isn’t here and you’re lonely huh?” He asked. Nik laughed and looked down. “Uh yeah she’s not home.” He said rubbing his neck. Lucky laughed. “See, aren’t you lucky to have a brother like me? You were so dull before I hooked you up with Gia.” Lucky said. “Oh you hooked me up with Gia, yeah actually it was more like Gia forced herself into my life.” Nik said. “True I guess. Hey the reason why I came by was to let you know that it’s moms birthday next week.” Lucky said. “Yeah I know Lucky.” Nik said. “Well yeah but Liz and I want to have a party for her and we want you to come.” Lucky said. Nikolas thought about it. “I don’t think so man, she probably just wants to be with you guys.” Nik said. Lucky shook his head. “No way Nikolas you’re her family too, come on you have to come.” Lucky said. “I don’t know, I’ll think about it.” Nik answered. Lucky nodded his head. “OK man.” He said.
“So I love that song that you sang for me in the office and I would like to make a single of it. I just need another song for it. Then I thought maybe we could book you for a couple of small clubs to start out with, sell some of the singles and then see where things go from there. But I’m sure that people will love you, you have a unique sound.” Ned said as he looked up at Gia. He had offered her a seat but she insisted on standing and had been pacing as she listened to him. She had stopped when he said this last part and looked at him with concern. “Do you really think they’ll like me Ned? Do you really think I have a shot at this?” She asked. Ned stood up and placed his hands on her shoulders. “I know it Gia. I’m so glad that we finally have the money to fund you. You’re going to make it big, I can feel it.” Ned answered. Gia smiled as Ned pulled her in for a hug.
