Brendan Shanahan: Steve Yzerman:

by me
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Not mine, fiction, you know the drill.
Summary: Shanny's still whining after the Columbus game. Actually, this is not related to my previous Whining!Shanny fic which was Bren/Hull because this is Bren/Stevie.
Notes: Actually, Alex jinxed Bren, not Stevie.

"I didn't score. Again."

"I know. I watch your games, Shanny."

"Why can't I score?"

"Relax, Bren."

"Easy for you to say. You already have 500 goals."

"Which means that I had 499, too."

"Yeah, but you got to 500. I'll probably like die tomorrow with 499."

"Jesus, be more pessimistic, will you?"

"Ok...every goal I score this season, assuming I do, will be called back."

"That was rhetorical."

"Yeah, yeah. I know."

"At least you won."

"Eh, yeah, I guess we did."

"Two assists is as good as a goal."

"Yet I still have 499."

"Mm-hm."

Brendan sighed. "I miss you, Stevie."

"I know."

"Not just on the ice. I miss...you too."

"I know, Shanny. I miss you, too."

"Really?"

"Of course! Of course I do. You are my best friend."

"Among other things."

"Mm. Yeah." Steve was quiet a minute. "So, I have a confession."

"What's that?"

"I jinxed you."

"And how did you do that."

"I want to be there when you score again."

"That's kind of sweet, and at the same time, really evil."

"Yeah, I sort of retracted it since I'm out longer than I thought."

"That was nice of you."

"I try."

"Yeah, I bet." Brendan could hear voices outside, and a key in the lock. "Hully's back. I better go."

"Ok. Good night."

"I love you, Stevie."

"Love you, too." Brendan pressed 'end' on his cell phone as Brett closed the door behind him.

"Who're you talking to?"

"Uh, my wife."

Brett smirked. "You mean Stevie?"

Brendan tossed a pillow at Brett, and his temporary roommate ducked. "Shut up, Hully."

"What? You guys are like...you know..."

"Again, Brett, shut up."

"But it's so cute..."

Brendan rolled over. "I'm going to sleep. Goodnight, Brett."

"Night, Shanny."

Brendan listened to Hull wander around and finally flip off the light. He sighed, and wished Stevie was there.
