Disclaimer: so fake.
Summary: After the Arizona series, before the Houston series. (Braves took 2
out of 3 from the D-Backs).
Author's Notes: Short. Apparently muses only speak to me in very quick bursts
now. Which is better than not at all, I suppose...

It was only about five minutes after they made their way to their rooms in
Houston that a soft knock came on Tom Glavines door. He opened it. The
visitor was not a surprise. So, you pitched well.

Hows your side?

Greg Maddux rested his hand there. Ok. It doesnt hurt or anything.

Tom flopped back down on the bed and Maddux followed somewhat gingerly. You
are hurting.

Um, ok. But not much. The righty reached for Glavines hand and entwined
their fingers. And it was a great game. Though you couldve stayed in.

Well, Tom said, unable to hold back his smile, it became a save opportunity
and Smoltzie didnt pitch yesterday

Maddux shook his head. So lame.

Hey, I gave the rest of the pen the night off. And I got a hit.

Oooh, maybe youre at .105 now. Measly compared to my .250.

Yeah, well, whos got more wins?

Who has the lower ERA? Tom started to retort but was cut off. And dont
bring up the Silver Slugger, because I have more Gold Gloves, and dont
try the 20-win season thing because Ive got double your Cy Youngs.

Tom rolled his eyes. Does the absurdity of these little arguments ever cross
your mind?

Yes. Thats why theyre fun.

The lefty sighed and didnt bother responding. So, Timmys certainly been on
a roller coaster lately. First hes all happy for those two scoreless,
then he spends an entire day and night berating himself for last nights
game, and then Foster got here and hes all ecstatic again.

Well, geez, Tommy, can you blame them? They havent seen each other in more
than a month. And reunions here are, I would assume, better than reunions
in Richmond.

You and I never really had that problem.

No we didnt, and just for future reference, if you ever shave your head I
will refuse to associate with you.

What will you do when I go bald?

Thats why theres The Hair Club.

You are so superficial. The comment lacked malice, however, as Tom turned
his head and pulled the other man closer for a kiss. There was no hurry,
their kiss was slow and warm. It was easy to bleed love and trust into
those, the same as lust bled through the frantic, passionate kind.

A timid knock came at the door, causing them to separate. Sighing, Glavine ran
a hand through his lovers hair and got up to open the hotel room door.

Two rookies were standing there, their eyes cast downward. Yes?

Er, Tim stammered, managing to look up. Since, uh, since Greg doesnt
actually use his room and stuffand since we both have roommates and
stuff...

Stop saying and stuff and tell me what you want.

Could maybe John and I sleep there?

What do they want? Greg called.

They want to have sex in your room, Tom replied, causing both young pitchers
to blush.

Oh. Yeah, its fine. Just dont touch anything that belongs to me. And be
aware that Im coming in to get my clothes at about 10 so dont be in the
middle of anything. He tossed his spare room key in the general vicinity
of the door and Glavine caught it and handed it to Spooneybarger.

Thanks, Foster managed as they started down the hall.

Shaking his head, the veteran shut the door and returned to his previous
position. Anyway. Where were we?

Greg pulled him close again, and Tom massaged his side gently. So, how ok are
you really? Ok, like itll hurt for the next couple of days but not by
your start? Ok, like youll ignore it and pitch anyway? Or ok, like you
could pinch hit tomorrow if we have like 12 innings or something?

Ok like I could pinch hit tomorrow. If we have like 12 innings or something.

Good to know.

Obviously sick of the subject, Greg kissed him again. Jeopardys on, he said
with a smirk when they parted.

You know, its hell watching that damn show with you.

Only because I get them all.

Well, if they ever do Jock Jeopardy Ill sign you up.

You do that. Flipping to the station, Greg pillowed his head on Glavines
shoulder.

The lefty sighed and reached just under the waistband of Madduxs pants. Are
you sure you want to watch the stupid game show?

Tom kissed his neck softly and the TV clicked off. Rerun, the ace explained
and he turned, his lips hovering above Toms.

You know that from the first question?

I remember the sequence of pitches I used against Barry Bonds in 1991. Yes,
Tom, I remember the Jeopardy questions.

Mm. Ok. Their lips touched again, and this time, there was no more talking.
