Glavine couldn't stop laughing. "Nine runs...Jesus, that was painful."

"Shut up."

"Nine earned runs...six walks...an ERROR...I can't even remember the last time
I saw you do that..."

"Shut up," Maddux repeated, hitting him with a pillow. It did nothing to
stifle Tom's laughter. "It isn't funny."

"It wouldn't be funny if it were July. But it's March, so it is funny."

"God, I hope you give up 10 tomorrow."

"That'd be funny, too."

"I bet you wouldn't be laughing."

"I might."

Maddux lay back, covering his eyes with his arms. "You wouldn't."

Glavine flopped down next to him. "You aren't really upset, are you?"

"Not really. Just...one of those days."

"I guess that's what spring training's for."

"Yep."

"I guess you know that already."

"I've been to spring training a lot of times, yes."

"Right."

"Right."

"I love you, Greg."

Maddux laughed. "Random..."

"What?"

"You're just trying to shut me up."

"Yes." Tom trailed his fingers down Maddux's chest. "Did it work?"

Greg uncovered an eye. "What do you think?"

"I think...you never shut up."

Greg smiled. "True."

"You're ok, right? Not hurt or anything..."

"Nope. I have no excuses. I just pitched like shit."

"Mm."

"You're going to sleep, aren't you?"

"No..." Glavine yawned. His eyes were closed, and his head rested on Maddux's
shoulder.

"Of course you're not." Maddux wrapped his arm around him. "Night."

Tom mumbled something incoherent into Greg's shoulder and cuddled closer.
Maddux smiled at him. "I don't care how many runs I gave up now," he
murmured. "All I need, right here."
