Rating: I think I'll stick this one with an R
Series/Sequel: Sequel to No Wonder, but can be read individually.
Pairing: Greg Maddux/Tom Glavine
Disclaimer: Same as disclaimer for Untitled Again.
Summary: I think a summary would be longer than the actual story.
Setting: Ok, after the third game in Montreal. Perez lost game one, Maddux won
game two, Glavine won game three (and Burkett won game four, but that
hasn't happened yet.) The win earned the Braves a two- game lead over
Philadelphia, who lost to the Mets. Glavine gave up 5 hits and 3 ERs in 7
innings, he was also 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored. Maddux continued his
streak of walkless innings.
"Did you happen onto ESPN.com last night?"
Maddux shook his head, then smirked at the other pitcher. "I was otherwise
occupied last night. I think you'll remember?"
Glavine looked up from his laptop screen and grinned back. "Yeah, I remember.
But they posted a glowing article about your performance."
Maddux leaned over to look, and read the first line aloud. "'We always knew
Greg Maddux had pinpoint control, but this is ridiculous.' Nice."
"There was also a comparison of your pitching to Clemens."
"Oh, really. And how long did it take to turn into a contrast?"
"First line." Glavine scrolled down. "Looks like they managed...oh, here, you
both work hard, win, and throw fastballs 75% of the time."
"Wow. Must've taken them forever to come up with that."
"Months, certainly." They grinned at each other, then Glavine turned back to
his computer. "I think I'm addicted to the Internet."
"Mm, yeah, you are," Maddux responded, kissing his neck.
"MLB.com has great videos and pictures and stuff. Speaking of pictures, did
you know that nearly everyone semi-famous has a naked picture on the
Internet? I've never found yours, though."
"Uh, Tommy?"
"Yeah," he replied, looking up.
"Is there a reason you would need a naked picture of me?"
Glavine looked him up and down. "Well, you're fully clothed, aren't you?"
"You know, that could be changed pretty easily."
Glavine raised an eyebrow, and the corner of his mouth quirked
upward. "Really. Maybe I should look into that possibility." He shut his
laptop with one hand, and moved it quickly to the floor.
"Yeah. Good plan." He gently slid Maddux's t-shirt over his head. "I'm ahead
now on batting points, aren't I?"
"Should be," Greg murmured, concentrating on the feel of Glavine's hands on
him. "I mean you were two for two."
"Yeah," was the soft, distracted reply. "With two runs scored."
Maddux opened his eyes, and found Glavine watching him. "And you know I love
watching you hit, right?"
"You have demonstrated that on occasion."
"Let me do so again." Maddux pulled Glavine closer, kissing him hungrily. They
fumbled with clothing for a moment, but then it was gone and nothing was
restricting their contact.
They came together, Maddux buried deep inside his lover, his hand sticky from
Glavine's seed.
"God, I love you," Maddux murmured after a few moments, as they lay together,
drowsy and sated.
"Love you, too," the other replied, then pulled Maddux over for a long kiss, a
heartbreaking kiss, as both realized that as soon as they were out of the
game they both loved so much, all this would be over, too.
