Summary: Everyone's at the hospital...
Notes: I suppose this is anti-climactic. But I felt guilty, so I wanted to give you guys *something*...
***POV: Michael Fischer***
Waiting is the worst. Were all here, packed into a waiting room, terrorizing doctors and searching for information. Im pretty sure Park made himself sick worrying, even after his outstanding performance. Hes asleep against Dame now, and I think someone made him take something, because hed never be out otherwise.
You ok, Mikey? I looked up into my mirror image, which Im rather used to. Obviously, Ive lived 18 years with a twin.
Yeah, I sighed. I justI shouldve done more. Number 24 was my guy, if Id been on him like I shouldve been he wouldnt have gotten close enough to hit Stormy in the first place.
He smiled half-heartedly at me and squeezed my hand. Nothing you couldve done. Hell be ok.
God, I hope so.
The minutes ticked by slowly. Eventually, Parker woke up and I heard him arguing with Dame about being drugged, then he left the room. Damon let him go, and I waited a few minutes before following.
He was standing in the hall, and when he saw me he hurriedly swiped at his eyes. Itll be ok, Park, I told him.
Yeah, I know, he said, and his voice was steady.
I Im sorry, Parker. I couldve prevented this if Id just-
No, Mike. Lets not get into that. It happened. We cant blame ourselves.
You know, I said, leaning against the wall next to him. Its ok to like show some emotion. You dont have to be all stoic and captainish.
Yeah. I do.
I know you feel helpless, Parker. If something happened to my girlfriend, Id probably be much worse.
He spared me an amused glance. Chris is not my girlfriend.
No, I guess he isnt. I smirked and Parker laughed a little. As we finished our semi-lighthearted moment, we saw the doctor heading towards our waiting room. I guess we have to hear what he has to say.
A terrified look passed through Parkers eyes, but he quickly banished it and nodded, leading the way back to the room.
Im Dr. Videau, I worked on your teammate. He was very, very lucky. It seems that whatever hit him a skate, right? He looked up for confirmation and received it. Well, whoever it was that wore the skate realized what happened and seemed to back off. There was very little tendon damage, nothing that required surgery, and it shouldnt take any longer to heal than the bone. There is a bit of an unusual cast as we cant very well cover the stitches, but all in all, hell be fine.
There were a bunch of simultaneous sighs of relief. Can we see him? asked Damon.
The doctor looked over the exhausted and worried group of hockey players in his waiting room. Yeah, I wouldnt normally buthe doesnt have any family here. One at a time. We let Parker go first, of course, and conversation picked up as soon as he and Dr. Videau left. Stormy would be ok.
