Summary: In which Billy returns from his adventure at the hospital.
Notes: Um...I don't think I have anything important to say.

The room was pitch black when Billy got back. He leaned his crutches against the wall and stripped off his shirt. He eased his shorts off, leaving himself clad in only boxers. Then he paused, looking between the two beds in the room. He almost would rather sleep by himself with that thing on his leg.

But then he heard Damon's voice, heavy with sleep. "Billy? That you?"

"Y - yeah," he said, surprised at the hesitation in his own voice.

Damon flipped on the lamp and they both blinked in the sudden light. Billy watched as Dame took in the brace on his knee. "What is it?" he asked.

Billy met his eyes. "ACL," he said softly.

"Surgery?"

"Second opinion tomorrow."

"Jesus. How long?"

"A while," Billy almost whispered.

"Come here."

Hesitating only slightly, Billy hobbled to the bed. Damon wrapped his arms around him. "Dame, I'll probably have to go home. To recuperate."

"You - but..."

"I know. I...I'd be better off there. With my dad."

Damon rested his chin on Billy's shoulder and didn't speak for a long time. "I'll miss you," he finally said.

Billy made a noise sort of like a laugh. "Fuck. Yeah." He leaned back against Damon. "I didn't want this to happen."

"Like anyone does."

Billy hesitated. "There was...something else. I don't know why I didn't tell you and Park before now, but...you know I applied to BU, right?"

"Yeah," Damon said curiously.

"The hockey coach called my dad."

"Are you SERIOUS? You're being scouted by Boston University?"

"Well...the coach was at the game we played in Boston, and he checked our roster with the applicants to BU, and saw me. If I get in and go, he wants me to try to walk on to the hockey team. He thinks I might make it."

Damon kissed his neck, squeezing him tighter. "That's great! I'm...I'm so happy for you."

"If this doesn't screw it up."

"It's only a few months, Billy."

"Yeah...I'll be back by the Europe thing, I think. I mean, to play. I'll be back with the team as soon as I can skate."

"It won't be too long," Damon said, his voice optimistic."

"Nah."

"Billy?"

"Yep."

"I...I love you."

"I love you too."

He sighed. "You should get some sleep."

Billy yawned. "Ok..."

Another kiss from Damon, and he drifted off enveloped in his warmth. He dreamed of months without Damon and without hockey.
