Dimondale
Age 76, died April 11, 1992 at a Lansing hospital. Mrs. Smart was born May 30, 1915 in
Dimondale, the daughter of John C. and Lucy E. (STETLER) GAUS. She was a retired Secretary of
State employee and is a member of Grovenburg United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.
She was a UMW officer for many years. Surviving are her daughters, Helen (Jim) HARRIS of Swartz
Creek and Leota (Bob) STROBEL of Dimondale; stepchildren, Vera BELEN of Westphalia, Betty
MARQUARDT of Charlotte, Ruth HIGBIE, Norma SATTERLEE and David SMART, all of Eaton Rapids and
Robert SMART of Baltimore, MD; and numerous grand-, great grand- and great great grand-children.
Services will be held at 12 noon Tuesday at Field & Leik Funeral Home, Dimondale with Rev.
Kyewoon Choi and Rev. Paul Mergener officiating. Interment in Dimondale Cemetery. The family
will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Funeral Home. Memorials have been
suggested to the Grovenburg United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
