Age 66, died June 4, 1986. Born November 21, 1919 in Walnut, IL., Mr. Read was an instructor
at the Lansing Boys Training School for 20 years and retired from the Michigan Department of
Social Services in 1979. He was a graduate of Fremont High School (1938), an Okemos area resident
for 34 years and a veteran of W.W.II, serving with the U.S. Army. Surviving are his wife,
Marcella A.; daughter, Mrs. Fred (Charlotte) SMITH of Corunna; son, Don and wife Linda of East
Lansing; 9 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:30
p.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman East Chapel, East Lansing with the Rev. Ian J. Schlotterbeck,
Rector of St. Katherine's Episcopal Church, officiating. Interment will be in East Lawn Memory
Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Chapel hours are from 9 a.m.
to 9 p.m. Those desiring may make contributions to the Ingham Medical Center Coronary Care Unit.
