PENNER, M. Arleen
Lansing
Age 80, died January 16, 1991. Born March 26, 1910 in Somerset Township, Mrs. Penner was a
graduate of Lansing Central School and E.W. Sparrow Hospital School of Nursing. She retired from
the Boy's Vocational Training School and was a longtime member of the First United Methodist
Church where she was a former Girl Scout leader, prayer group instructor and member of the Body &
Soul Circle. Predeceased by her husband, Robert (August 1973) and a sister, Naydeen GILLETT, Mrs.
PENNER is survived by 2 daughters, Barbara (Vernon) LIETZKE of Leslie and Beverly BURROWS of
Lansing; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Lester NORTON of Lansing and Dr.
Francis NORTON of Pennsylvania; 3 sisters, Virginia SCHILCHTER and Beatrice SCHRAM, both of Mason
and Phyllis ZEIGLER of Grand Rapids. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 21, 2:30 p.m.
at the Gorsline-Runciman Lansing Chapel with the Rev. Mark D. Graham, pastor of the First United
Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends
may call at the Chapel beginning Saturday, 2 p.m. where the family will receive friends Saturday
and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In remembrance of Mrs. Penner, those desiring may make
contributions to the Nurse's scholarship Fund, c/o the Nurse's Alumni Association at Edward W.
Sparrow Hospital.
