O'CONNOR, Dr. John T.

Dimondale, MI
Age 62, passed away in Florida on February 16, 1995. He was born in Detroit, MI on May 12, 1932. Following graduation from elementary and high school in Essexville, MI, John attended the University of Detroit before enrolling in Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, Kirksville, MO, graduating in 1958. He interned at Lansing General Hospital and has been a member of their staff since that time, as well as conducting a general practice since in 1959. He became certified in General Practice by the ACGP in 1978; member of the Ingham Co. Osteopathic Association since 1959 and a past President and Board member; member of the Michigan Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons, Inc. and a past President and Board Trustee; a delegate to MAOP&S; member and former Chairperson of MAOLP&S Council of Public Education on Health; former Chairperson of MOPAC, MAOP&S Political Action Committee; a past President of MAOP&S Legislative Affairs; and was very active in the promotion of Osteopathic Medicine in Michigan by continuing to be active in legislative affairs. He was a member of the Physician's Advisory Committee of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan; and Dr. O'Connor served three separate appointments as Chief of Staff at Lansing General Hospital; and was a member of the Country Club of Lansing. He was preceded in death by parents, Dr. John and Bertha O'Connor. Surviving are his wife, Kathleen; daughter, Bethani and husband, Dr. Michael DANDOIS of Kalamazoo; 3 sons, Dr. Kevin and wife, Jewel of Lansing, Thomas and wife, Brooke of Indianapolis, and Daniel of Lansing; 3 grandchildren, Matthew and Claire DANDOIS, and Katelyn O'CONNOR; and his long time friend and physician associate, Dr. Kenneth MURRAY. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Fr. Andrew Dunne of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Michigan Center, MI at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 21, 1995 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with interment in Deepdale Memorial Gardens. Casket bearers will be: Larry Barber, Neil McLean, Harry Smith, Dr. Edward Fritch, Daniel Holahan, Michael DeGrow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, Kirksville, MO, in memory of Dr. John T. O'Connor.
