Age 72, of died Monday, November 22, 1993 at his residence in Florida. He was a 30 year
employee of Oldsmobile. Survived by daughters, Rebecca (Wylie) STOKES of Hollywood, Fla. and
Brenda (David) Dedafoe of Charlotte; Full military graveside services will be held 3:30 p.m.
Monday, November 29 at Rutland Township Cemetery near Hastings. Visitation will be Monday, 1-3
p.m., Wren Funeral Home, Hastings. Memorial contributions may be made to the V.F.W. National
Home in Eaton Rapids, MI.

Rex O. LESLIE
Rex O. Leslie, 72, of Charlotte Harbor, Fla., formerly of Charlotte and Hastings,
died Nov. 22, 1993 at his residence.
Mr. Leslie was born in April 21, 1921 in Hastings the son of Otto and Alice
(KNICKERBOCKER) LESLIE. He was a 1939 graduate of Hastings High School. He served in the United
States Navy submarine division during World War II. He married Betty WORDEN Oct. 2, 1944, and
had lived in Florida for 15 years moving from Charlotte where he lived nearly 30 years. He was
employed at the Oldsmobile Division of General Motors Corporation in Lansing for 30 years,
retiring in 1975. He is a past commander of VFW Post #5690 in Port Charlotte, a member of the
Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, VFW Post #2406 in Charlotte, American Legion Post #103 in Port
Charlotte, and a charter member of U.S. Sumbmarine Veterans of World War II.
He is survived by two daughters, Rebecca (Wylie) STOKES of Hollywood, Fla. and
Brenda (David) Dedafoe of Charlotte; four grandchildren; his mother, Alice BENNER of Hastings;
one brother, Carl (Barbara) BENNER of Hastings; many nieces and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his father, Otto, his wife Betty Aug 14, 1992, and
one sister; Geneva OCKERMAN.
Graveside services were Nov. 29 at the Rutland Township Cemetery near Hastings
with full military honors conducted by Charlotte VFW Post #2406.
