Fred HILLIARD, 81, Taken by Death
Fred S. Hilliard, 81, of 544 E. Mt. Hope Ave., died Tuesday at a local hospital. Born at Muir he had been
a resident of Lansing for 54 years.
Mr. Hilliard operated the Cable Piano Store here for 13 years, and was an agent for State Farm Insurance Co.
for 24 years, retiring eight years ago. He was a member of Mt. Hope Methodist Church and a member of Prosperity Lodge No.
564 I.O.O.F. Mr. and Mrs. Hilliard celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Dec. 4, 1959.
Surviving are his wife, Effie G.; one son, Kenneth T., of Flint; three daughters, Mrs. Donald GUTHRIE of
Lansing, Mrs. James BOND of Danbury, Conn., and Mrs. Bob DIXON of Bloomfield Hills; nine grandchildren, four great-
grandchildren, and one brother, C. Ross HILLIARD of Mason. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the
Gorsline - Runciman Funeral Home. Burial will be in North Cemetery.

Age 81, died Tuesday at a local hospital. He was born Jan. 21, 1882, in Muir, Mich.,
and was a resident of Lansing for 54 years. Mr. Hilliard operated the Cable Piano Store on
Washington Avenue 13 years, and was a special agent for State Farm Insurance Co. for 24 years,
retiring 8 years ago. He was a member of Mt. Hope Methodist Church and a member of Prosperity
Lodge No. 564 I.O.O.F. Mr. and Mrs. Hilliard celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Dec.
4, 1959. Surviving are his wife, Effie G.; one son, Kenneth T., of Flint; 3 daughters, Mrs.
Donald (Ona) GUTHRIE of Lansing, Mrs. James (Ellen) BOND of Danbury, Conn., and Mrs. Bob (Doras)
DIXON of Bloomfield Hills; 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 1 brother, C. Ross
HILLIARD of Mason. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. from the Gorsline -
