W. Arthur GIFFORD

Eaton Rapids, Nov. 25 - Friends of W. Arthur Gifford were shocked Wednesday to learn of his sudden death, which occurred on Tuesday at his home in Lansing. Mr. Gifford, 56, operated the Gifford Engine company plant in this city, moving the plant here from Lansing about four years ago. On Monday evening, he complained to his brother, Robert D. GIFFORD, editor of the Eaton Rapids Journal, that he was not feeling his best, and when he did not come to the office on Tuesday, his brother drove to Lansing to find out what was wrong. He discovered him dead. Mr. Gifford lived alone at 309 Townsend street, continuing the home following the death of his mother several years ago. Besides his brother, Robert, of Eaton Rapids, he is survived by a brother Ray GIFFORD, of Detroit, and Frank GIFFORD of Toledo, and one sister, Mrs. Ida OUTWATER of Milwaukee. The body was removed to the Estes-Leadley funeral home from which place funeral services will be conducted Friday morning at 10 o'clock, burial being in Mt. Hope cemetery, Lansing.
