Esther M. TWICHELL ENSON
Esther M. Twichell Enson, age 79, died Wednesday, October 4, 1995 at the Green
Ridge Nursing Home in Big Rapids. Esther was born April 10, 1916 in Lansing. 1 of 10 children
born to John Henry and Elsie O. (TWICHELL) GARDNER. Esther had lived most of her life in Eaton
Rapids. She moved up to Mecosta and had lived with her daughter for 6 years and the past 2 years
had been living at the nursing home in Big Rapids. She had worked as a manager and cook for the
Ivy Manor Nursing Home in Eaton Rapids. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph TWICHELL;
daughter Ruth FOSTER; son, Raymond TWICHELL; sister, Alice PURVIS and brother William GARDNER.
Surviving are 3 children, son, Ron TWICHELL of Springport ; 2 daughters, Janet
SMITH of Springport and Joyce YERXA of Mecosta; 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren and 7
sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 6, from the Skinner Funeral Home with
the Rev. Paul Mergener officiating. Interment followed in the Munger Cemetery in Eaton Rapids.
Honorary bearers were Ivan Fidler and Charles Church; active bearers were Jim Ness, Pete Ladiski,
Wesley Farrier, Richard Taylor, Forrest Tefft and Rick Taylor. For those desiring a memorial
contribution may be made to Hospice of Big Rapids in memory of Esther M. Twichell-Enson.
