Traffic Fatality City's 7th
Lansing's seventh traffic fatality of 1964 was recorded Monday afternoon when Lee W. DAVIS, 35, of 1128 E.
Saginaw St. died in a local hospital.
City Police reported that Davis was injured about 6:30 a.m. Sunday when has car struck a tree on N.
Pennsylvania Avenue near Shiawassee Street.
He died about 4:30 p.m. Monday.
Officers said witnesses told them Davis was driving south on Pennsylvania Avenue when his car swerved to the
left, jumped a curb and struck the tree on a median strip.
Coroner Jack Holmes said the victim suffered neck and head injuries. An autopsy was being held Tuesday
afternoon.
A native of Battle Creek, Mr. Davis had been a Lansing resident 31 years, having been employed at
Oldsmobile Division 15 years. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict and a member of the Oldsmobile Outdoor Club
Surviving are the widow, Barbara M.; two daughters, Sally and Tonja; a son, Bradford; his mother, Mrs. Rosa
REAVES; his stepfather, Clarence REAVES of Lansing; a brother, Gerald DAVIS of Lansing, and a sister, Mrs. Delores RIGGS of
Lansing.
Services will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Home.
